Pump sounds loud and slurpy but doesn't pump

6 month old new Via VEnezia double shot - working great until this morning when water pump wouldn't "go" but makes impressive scary noise.....sounds like the regular pump noise only much louder, with rude slurping.
I have never cleaned the machine and wonder if that's it -- and how do I do that?
MANY thanks if you can help.

Try descaling the machine. Saeco has a suitable solution, although the user manual says 'you may use any commercially available non-toxic descaling agent.' The instructions are set out in the user manual, and are usually on the descaling agent label. It is important to descale regularly, at least every 4-6 months.

Venezia vae know boil water for coffee coming out the head

It sounds like you need the tune up kit. I got mine at Seattle Coffee Gear. http://www.seattlecoffeegear.com/seattle-coffee-gear-tune-up-kit-for-saeco-via-venezia. It was really easy to unscrew and replace the parts. Good luck

My Emerson Portable Ice Maker started makeing a loud grinding sound when pumping water -why?

I had this same problem that cropped up about 6 months after I purchased the ice maker. When it pumped water into the ice tray, the water pump would make a loud grinding noise. I inspected the pump and found that the impeller was in contact with the bottom of the pump housing. I partially disassembled the pump and inserted a small washer I fabricated out of electrical tape to enlarge the gap between the impeller and the bottom of the pump housing. I also took care not to over-tighten the screws when reassembling the pump. The grinding noise went away completely, and it's back to normal operation now. Even if you have no idea what you're doing, like me, it's a 15 minute fix with practically zero materials cost.

I have no idea what caused the problem originally, unless there was a washer that disintegrated over several months' worth of use.

Broken portafilter!

I had a brand new Via Venezia that I could barely get to make espesso, nothing or very little came out. Got a new portafilter and now it work beautifully, espesso flies out of the thing wonderfully. Bad news is a new portafilter is like $65. I can't believe they are shipping these with bad portafilters, but they are.

Saeco Via Venezia leaks water from front top overhang.

That is not normal, this tells me that the pump has too much pressure that it is forcing water through the brew unit, or the expansion valve(if your model has one was not set properly). Is there a high pitch noise when the pump is running. If yes then it is the expansion, if no then the springs and the valve pins in the brew valve(small white plastic piece behind the brew unit) needs to be replaced.

Water won't come out like its blocked

Water won't come out when you brew coffee or use the steam wand?
If its when you are using the steam/hot water valve the parnello might be clogged.
If it is when you are using the brew head, then try backwashing the machine with espresso machine cleaner(Purocaff or Cleancaff).
The pump could also be blocked, or the spring in the pump might be damaged, open machine and check pump.

Water won't come through my Saeco via venezia coffee machine. It was working fine until I cleaned it so I don't think the pump has gone.

If the pump vibrates when trying to draw water then that is a good sign. Remo;ve the hose on the output side of the pump and turn it on to see if it draws water(BE Careful water and electricity love each other too much), it water flows out the output side, reconnect to boiler and test. If that did not solve the no draw problem then the machine is blocked either at the boiler.

Via Venezia- pump is very loud

Sometimes the water filter vibrates against the water tank and it sounds as if the pump is really loud and malfunctioning. It isn't. Just pull the water tank forward and play around with the water filter and hose and you will be able to isolate the problem. You could cut the hose slightly shorter to stop the "rattling". good luck.

Try to prime the machine.
Open the steam knob and press the buttom for coffee, when the water comes, close the steam knob.
