Will not print. in window it says "unable to clean MFC-420CN" see trouble shooting and routine maintence. How do I fix this problem I no longer have a book with this fax printer machine.

You could check for a paper Jam or foreign oblect in the machine, under the top cover and in the back cover.

If there isnt a Jam in the machine it means there is a mechanical problem. There is a sponge in this machine and once it is full it wont be able to absorbe any more ink from the cleanings. You will need to bring it in for services, they would replace the sponge and reset the cleaning counter.

Check the brother website to find a service center in youre area.

Have you checked at the Brothers web site? I find that they have the product manuals easily available. I have had two Brothers printers. I always lose the manual.

Brother 420cn mfc, cant print It asks me to read in the routine maintenance of the trouble shooting guide.

Did you use non-Brother brand ink refills? If so, the print head is probably clogged. If that is the case, it's almost cheaper and easier to replace the printer itself. Sorry. I loved my MFC-210C until it quit, and the internet is full of people complaining about the whole MFC series. Going on 2 trouble free years with my Canon, better print, better optics, wireless, but no fax, unfortunately.

this is two ways for screen this error: 1. mechanical problems 2. absorber counter full If you don't hear ubnormal sounds from your printer, you must clear counter for absorber.
