Just to make sure, try connecting it into another computer (but not in Radio Shack), if the device gets detected by another computer, then you need to try enabling the USB Legacy Support of your computer.
But if the other computer does not detect it, then you need to take it back to Radio Shack and verify with them if there's any additional driver or firmware upgrade that would help you to detect the SanDisk.
Attention: Resetting the device will delete all the songs...!
