Lost sound in speakers, but sound will play with earphones.

That means one thing.

Your speaker is broken but lucky for you, the driver is still intact.

You can bring your laptop to your nearest repair shop and ask them to replace the speaker. It happens. A lot. Maybe due to prolonged used or low quality audio played with high volume, or it can be something else but changing to a new one can assure you that sounds can be played through the speaker again.

Either one of it or both are broken but they count the speaker as a unit. So, good luck.

Hi. Today I bought a 3 foot audio y-cable and an RCA (Phono) Female to RCA (Phoneo) Female cable so that I could hook up these two speakers that I have that belong to a predisian sound system (boom box)...

All you need to do is get a USB based sound adapter 16/32BIT MINIMUM to plug your speakers straight into your laptop with better sound. Many laptops will have limited sound OUTPUT which places large limitations on pushing sound through your nice speakers. You already know the problem is not the speakers or new cables, therefore you know that problem has been isolated to your laptop. You may also check the volume settings in the laptop to ensure your running the highest possible BIT or volume enhacement software. Let me know if this does the trick for you.

if you have stereo speakers then you can adjust the fade so that it plays sound out of the right speaker only. click on the sound icon in the system tray (bottom right of the screen) to access your speaker's settings

Itunes music sounds distorted somtimes and not others

The fault is from your laptop speaker. I think it has a hole inside and maybe that's why it distorts. Or maybe the sound/volume is too loud and the speaker does not have the capacity.

I would advice you to get an external speaker for your laptop.

Take care.

Aspire 5515 dvd wont play sound

Does the laptop play CDs?
If so then when you start a DVD and before you play the movie, go into the audio setting and configure the speakers for laptop stereo speakers.
If you cannot hear music from the CD then check :-
1. The audio settings, volume not set to minimum and mute is not ticked (enabled)
2. Device manager - sound device is enabled and working, if not re-install the sound driver.

Paired with my laptop but no sound comes out of the speaker. my laptop still plays throuugh its own speakers.

Although I have a different model, I was having the same problem. By right clicking on the speaker icon next to the clock in the icon tray you'll get different options. Click on 'Playback Devices' and then you'll see all the speakers that are active. In my case, the default speaker was set to be my laptop speakers (you can see this because of the green dot). By simply changing the bluetooth speaker to be your default speaker (by right clicking on it) you'll hear sound again. And when the blueetooth speaker is disconnected, the laptop use your 'secondary' speakers, that is, your laptop speakers. Hope this helps!

No Sound

Since it is still playing audio, just not on the laptop's speakers, then likely your speakers have gone bad. They are replaceable but sometimes getting to them can be a pain as well as finding another set of speakers for it.

Laptop speaker

You need to install the drivers for your soundcard. Try to find out what model of soundcard do you have and what version of Windows and try to search for the specific driver on the internet.
You can try these websites:
http://www.driverguide.com/
http://www.soft32.com/c/Windows/Drivers/2-52.html
Here's a tutorial on how to install a driver: http://www.totallydrivers.com/resources/directions_installation.asp
If you still can't hear sound try these steps, maybe it's not from your soundcard:
-Plug in the speakers
-Turn on the speakers.
-Turn-up the volume in Windows and on the speakers.
-Uncheck the mute checkbox in sound control panel.
-Verify a sound should be playing. In the Control Panel, play some Windows sounds. Play a music CD.
-Plug the speakers into the right hole on the sound card.
-Are the speakers plugged into the sound card and not the MODEM?
-Is the sound card installed correctly?
-Is the power converter for the speakers plugged into a wall outlet or surge protector?
-Is the power converter plugged into the speakers?
-Try other speakers or a head phone?
