Seems like your windows doesnt recognize your device...In order to solve your problems please make sure you follow the steps below...I would recommend that if you dont windows media player 11 to upgrade to 11...Then go under device manager to see if your device is listed there..to get to the device manager..click on your start menu, right click on my computer and then clikc on properties, hardware and then device manager...device manager will show you all the devices that you have install on your computer....If the device is listed under disk drives uninstall it and then unplug the device and replug it back...Also you want to make sure that you have your device connected on the back of your computer..For further assistance please contact me...
I hope this helps..
Please rate accordingly.

You didnt allow me to finish helping you..I told you to check bacj with me to let me know what the outcome is..Try those steps below even if you have done it already..What i would recommend you to do is to uninstall the device and reinstall it back...tou uninstall it...assuming that you are running windows xp...click on start, right click on my computer and go to properties..you should have your system properties open then click under hardware then device manager...look for the sansa device..it usually located under portable device..if its not showing there i would recommend you to look for under disk drives and see if its there..right click on the device and click on uninstall...after you unintall it unplug your device from the computer and check to usb mode..it has to be under MTP mode or auto....after you check the mode open up your windows media player click on tools, options and click under privacy...clear the history and caches...after you finish you can plug the device on the back of the computer not the front then windows should recongnize it and it should work properly..if that doesnt solve the problems upgrade your windows media player to 11 even though you have done that already..let me know the outcome...

My sansa e260's recovery mode doesnt work..it just stops in "USB Cable connected"...and when i plug it in the pc...the pc says "Unrecognized USB Device"..Help...The player works well but i cannot add new...

Try this:
1: Open "My computer".
2: Connect your unit to your computer
3: Right click on the MP3 icon
4: Click on "format"
5: Choose "quick format"

Keep in mind, this will fully restore your unit back to factory fresh, and you will lose all your files.

I am having problems adding music to my sansa mp3 player i plug my mp3 player into the computer a pc and it doesnt come up as it being in the computer

Hi there!

I can understand your issue. When you say having difficulty in adding the music in your player and the device is hooked up. Did you check whether the device is detected in the computer or not.

If the device is detected then go ahead and open the windows media player and add the music into it.

NOTE : Make sure the device should be in MTP mode, inorder to get the device detected in computer..
Please revert for further clarification..

My sanddisk sansa e260 is not connecting to my computer what do i do

most computers come with several USB input slots.
try all of them.
i know it took me awhile to master it.

does your sansa screen light up saying its connected?
because perhaps your computer is just rejecting the device.
be sure that the program necessary for e260 is fully installed.

Sansa e-260

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

Message states unable to format

Make sure you dont have Rhapsody, or Windows Media Player open. Go to My Computer>Device Name (e260)>Right Click and select FORMAT. If that doesnt work, change the mode on the device Settings>Mode or USB Mode and repeat. Best of Luck.
