Thats an expensive price for 20 minutes worth of repair and 20 dollars in parts. For that price I would insist that he use origional SANYO ICs as sanyo designed the STK series Chip and even though other brands have the stk number they are cheap imitations. origional sanyo parts will come packaged with the sanyo UPC code on the package. Otherwise you will probaly end up with 5.99 cheap versions and they will only last a short period of time

Had convergence issues, green was okay, red wouldn't move horizontal, and blue wouldnt move vertical. Also, functions such as pincushion and tilt wouldn't work with red or blue. Replaced convergence IC,...

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some images of convergence problems.

My panasonic pt-53tw53 wont turn on. The power light blinks 3 times then pause then three times....etc. If I unplug the set and plug it back in, it will work again but just for a short time, then shuts...

The 3 blink error is the convergence circuits need repair. The Panasonic repair kit PT53WX53 convergence repair kit is the correct kit for your model. Its available from www.tvrepairworld.com and the kit contains the parts and the CD with instructions.

Color fading? is it the convergence?

I thought that I had the convergence dialed in . I played my xbox through it and it was looking good . I unplugged everything and put it up on stand and it wouldnt come on . Power button turns red then blinks 9 times but wont power up.

Hi, my t.v. is a Samsung rear projection and has what I can only describe as a "double picture". Had a repair man out yesterday who said it is not worth repairing as the message "no sensor...

A double picture to me is an indication of a convergence issue; from what you describe. WHat is the model for this set...i would have to know to be sure.. NO SENSOR data sounds like to me that the convergence has been messed up. No sensor data ussally means that the unit has lost calabration and will have to calabrated by a service tech... although these set are notourous i wouldnt give iup yet

Convergence issue?

This still could be the convergence . This will should be repaired by a tech if you do not know how to repair . Around $200 - $300 if you could get it to him or more if he has to make a service call . Call around for the best price as alot of shops vary in there charges. On this problem if it is the convergence make sure they will use the original IC's and not the cheap replacements as they do not hold up as long . Good luck

No power, red power lights keeps flashing.

I had the same problem with the 47" version. I called the Sears technician who tried for more than an hour to fix the problem, even calling Panasonic. Final solution: a board repair for $550. Now I have a plasma and a big desk.

Blinking power light

Our 61H71 just did the same thing! I have found on another site where a fuse on the Convergence board was replaced as a fix for this issue...however, fuses are usually symptoms not causes...it is very difficult to find availabe information on this issue...it may be time to call a professional...Good Luck!
