Make sure the dip switch settings are correct. This is probably a serial interfaced printer and the baud rate or parity is wrong. Do a self test on the printer by holding down the feed button and turning on the printer, release button after the printer starts printing the test page. Now make sure your computer settings match the printer settings exactly.

My Star TSP600 Thermal Printer is displaying a flashing Error light. Power light on, new roll of paper loaded correctly, self-test was ineffective - nothing printed. What's my next step?

i know you stated you put the paper in correctlyin the printer but if the thermal reactive side of the paper is not facing the print head the thermal paper won't print on the wrong side of the paper. it will load into the printer and seem ok but the heat on the wrong side of the paper will not react and show any writing. Can you try turning the paper over in the printer feed holder so the other side of the paper faces the print head and give it another test .

I replaced a tsp600 with a new tsp600

There are DIP switch settings in the printer, Check the old one and change the new on to match.

I have a Star TSP600 Thermal Printer which is displaying a red error light.

Are you sure the paper is correctly routed? It will pass a detector. Mis-aligned paper, or defective/damaged detector will present the error.

My star tsp600 has stopped working properly. The auto cutter no longer works and the receipt paper does not advance fully.

You will need to take the printer in for a service. The cutter is Jammed and that causes the fault on the paper feed.

Paper feeds as if normal but no printing appears on paper

If it is now printing blank and was working before the paper roll change then you need to flip the roll over and print on the other side of the paper. This is assuming you have the correct thermal paper roll.
