The number you called does not answer or busy-you may have reached a number not connected to fax or it is connected and not activated in receiving mode-check the number and call again. if you have a message "out of memory"there is no enough memory available to send your fax.press stop/exit print the faxes stored in the memory to delete them then try again.

Hello,
If you get the "busy/no response" message it is because the fax machine does not get a response when it tries to dial out.
Make sure you have a dial tone by pressing the "hook" button.
If you do not have a dial tone, make sure the phone line is connected to LINE on the machine.
If you have a dial tone, try dialing the fax number.
If you hear a recording, there is a problem with the line.
One of these two possibilities is causing the problem.
Thanks,
Pat
Put the document you want to send into the transmit tray, pick up the handset, listen for a dial tone, and then dial the # on the keypad..
It should ring just like any other phone. When the machine on the other end picks up and you hear the tones, press the start button.
Anything other than fax tones on the other end, it is not your faxes fault.
Using a cell phone, call your fax machine to see if the fax answers. If it does answer, then hang up the cell phone and fax. Next, using the HOOK button on your fax, call your cell phone . The cell phone should ring and answer the phone call from the fax. If you do not get a connection between the fax and cell, try these: Check that the phone line to the fax is plugged into the LINE jack on the fax, NOT THE PHONE jack. The PHONE jack on the fax is to plug in a TELEPHONE ONLY. If the fax phone line is OK, go into your fax machines' RECEIVE and SEND settings and make sure they are set up properly (pulse or tone dialing, overseas mode, etc.) Print out the HELP LIST as follows: Press MENU button, then 5 on keyboard, then 1 on keyboard. Go through all the settings on the HELP LIST that apply to your problem. (Send and Receive modes, Ring Delay, Receive Options, etc.) Write down the original settings BEFORE YOU CHANGE ANY OF THEM.
Make sure the phone cord is connected to fax machine in the place marked LINE, then make sure the phone cord is connected to the wall jack. Pick up your handset and make sure you have a clear dial tone also. If you are dialing long distance make sure you have the long distance service.
go into menu go to fax settings find send click auto not manual, please make sure that when you push the hook key you hear a dial tone. always reminder that every fax machine has the capablitiy of either dial or tone. now if everything is set up properly the problem will be in the tx portion of the board. if you can link up with somebody close to you and try to transmit back and fourth that will let you know if it is their problem or your. it may not be your problem.
This could be a cable fault. Get BT to do a line test for you (this is free).
If that is OK, change the telephone cable. Perhaps this is on an extention cable? Remove it.
