Hello.

Assuming the laptop is powered on (green light), connect an external monitor. If the external monitor works, then your display (inverter) needs replacement. If an external monitor doesn't work, then your VGA in the laptop is faulty.

If the laptop is not powering on, could be the power adapter or power jack, which would need replacement.

If these suggestions don't help, please provide more info as to your problem and what you have tried to resolve.

Hope this helps.

So sorry. Didn't see ALL your comments. When booting the laptop, try wiggling the power adapter cable where it connectsto the laptop. If loose, or the laptop powers on and off, you have a faulty power jack. Can be replaced or repaired (soldered - only try if you are knowledgeable)

Hi! If its not turning on please check the power source for it may not be working. Plug the pc to a working power source. If no luck and the pc still doesnt respond then i believe that you have a faulty power supply or a faulty mainboard/motherboard. Have this check and replace if necessary. Hope this helps and have a good one!

Backup your data using an external monitor plugged into your laptop and then reinstall the operating system using the original restore CD. If you don't get a picture on the external monitor then you will need to replace the video card and/or hard drive

Hello,

Thanks for using FixYa.

If your laptop's screen had suddenly turned black, you need to get the LCD repair kit for the laptop. The repair kit includes the LCD flex cable (this usually gets brittle and breaks) and other cable connectors for the LCD. Just bring the laptop to a local laptop repair shop and they should be able to fix it for your right away while you wait.

I hope this helps. Thanks and good day.

Unplug the pc, then remove the battery, the press and hold the power button for 5 full seconds. Then wait a minute and put battery back in, and plug it back in and turn it on. It should be good now. If you still dont have a picture, then you could have a bad memory chip

  • Anonymous Apr 10, 2010

If the reset didn't work, and both memory cards are new, and you get fan power but no leds or screen, then I would assume either the motherboard is bad.

  • Anonymous Apr 11, 2010

I still believe it's your board. Most act that same way when they go.

Hello,

there are different reasons that could make your computer be in a black screen state:

  1. The screen might be bad and needs replacement.
  2. The screen inverter might be bad, this will not allow the screen display anything.
  3. The screen back light also may have died/burnt and will cause the screen not to display anything.
Also, to be sure one of the above is the problem, connect your laptop to an external monitor, and see if there will be any display. If there is a display, then one of the three problems stated is the problem.

But if there is still no display, then it means you laptop motherboard is the cause of the problem.

So I would advice that you take the laptop to a repairer to help help fix the problem.

Good luck.

How to clear blackscreen for windows 7 before login

Hello there anvesh_t416 if i got it right you have a blackscreen of "death" if you can get into safe mode, Navigate to the Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools program group then click on system restore and see if it gets to a point that this stops. If you cant do that then your only option is to format your pc...
tip

My laptop shows blackscreen so i reformat it and now its not anymore showing the...

Normally if the computer has the black display then follow these steps:
1) disconnect the pwr cord form the back of the computer //
2) disconnect the printer and the internet cord//
3)hold the pwr button for 1 min and then release// this is called "pwr drain" when the pwr cord is disconnected//
4)connect the pwr cord and restart the computer and see if it boots or not.
5)if not then disconnect the pwr cord again and open the side pannel of the computer//
6)on the mother board you will find the RAM (MEMORY CARD) which will be approx 6 inch long", take out the card/s and plug the pwr cord and restart the computer//
7) if you get the beep sound then the mother board is ok and if you do not get the beep sound then the problem could be mother board//
8)if getting the beep sound then fix the RAM CARD properly and restsrt the computer// it shoul boot//
note** during all this process make sure that the pwr cord is pulled out when you put your hand inside the computer or else you can get power shock..

Blackscreen on start.no display

Try the extension RGB monitor socket on a monitor to see if that works. If it does you might have hit the function key to switch the display to externel. Look in your manual about switching displays this will help you.
It will be something like <function F4 or something similar.
