MPI Heater keeps shutting off and wont turn back on when it does. we try to reset it and for some reason it will try to go back on but will not fire up. It is cold in here and we have dyed kerosene so why wont it reset and warm up?

Does the heater give any codes when it cuts off. Also what model do you have? There should be a number on the front such as 41, 441, 422, 2400, 2200 etc.

Your problem may be a dirty flame sensor which can be cleaned with some steelwool. If the heater makes a ticking or thumping noise before it cuts off it is not getting fuel to the pump and you would need to check your filter and also the strainer in the fuel sump. Make sure you don't have water in your kerosene either. You can find an owner's manual at www.monitorproducts.com which will give you some more info.

HEATER WONT STAY RUNNING IT TURNS OFF AFTER A FEW MINUTES

Good Afternoon Edith.
Pretty much all heaters have internal sensors that will shut the heater off if they are tipped over, to reduce the chance that they'll cause a fire. They also tend to have sensor that will detect if they are overheating which also can start a fire. So, a couple of generic things to try since I don't have particulars on whether this is gas or electric)

For an Electric Heater:
  1. Look at the power draw - there should be a label on the case, or possibly stamped/molded into the case, saying how many amps the heater will draw. Make sure the plug is rated for that. Under-current might trigger a shut-off.
  2. After the heater has been on for a couple minutes, but not switched off yet, see if it either feels way too warm nearby the heater, or if you're detecting any kind of burning or hot-electrical-parts smells.
For a gas/propane heater:
  1. Make sure your gas source if fully turned on, or if it's a portable tank, that it's not empty.
  2. Make sure that the initial fire has some warmth to it. A lot of gas burners have a thermostat that sticks into the flame - my Turkey deep fryer, for instance - looks like a heavy wire, a bit thicker than for a wire coat hanger, with one end in the fire, the other leading back to the gas inlet. These need to stay a minimum level of hot, or they will shut the gas off. This is a safety measure to keep the gas from flowing if the fire blows out. Area full of unburnt fuel, very dangerous.
  3. Make sure, again, that the heat doesn't feel crazy way too hot. Might be an interlock again.
For either type:
  1. Make sure that they are on level ground
  2. If they have a blower to spread heat, look at where the inlets for the blower are, and make sure they are not blocked, or clogged up with dust bunnies, pet hair, or a random bit of something that got sucked against the inlet. That can trigger more interlocks against overheating.
  3. If they are one of the back and forth pivoting heaters, likewise make sure that nothing is blocking the pivot swing. Hitting something can lead to heater tipping itself over, interlock yet again.
Hope this helps!

Good Luck

Display says "CFH" but heatert wont fire up. Just makes a clicking sound

You don't have gas supplied to the heater. It sounds like you have a gas powered unit and the clicking you're hearing is the sparker sparking.

MY SPA HEATER KEEPS SHUTTING OFF AND ON AND WONT GET WARMER THAN 82

Having the same problem. If you tap certain connections with power on (but heater is off) - this is dangerous - it will fire back up.

Turn off all power, unplug all connections and re connect. Should help for the short term in my experience.

On my all buttom qualink 4 on my buttons work except when I turn the spa off the cool down mode doesn't seem to work it says heater will turn off after cool down but the jandy doesn't turn back to filter...

Your heater should shut down rite away and the pump will keep running to pump cool water through the heater. After the cool down period then the valves will go back to normal run positions.

MPI 41 Keresene Monitor Heater LIft Pump over-primed?

I recently relocated monitor heater from living room to dining room and ran new line to heater. I have pressed the priming button located on right side and turn unit on, but all that happens is it will click on run for a cycle and burner never ignites and then turns itself off and burner indicator lights continue to blink on and off, I dont think it is getting proper fuel to unit. What do I need to do?

Pool heater wont start but when i turn off the pump and start back again the pool heater comes on for 2 seconds and shuts off AGAIN

Heater must have water before it will fire up. There is a delay relay that may be dozing off. Not a bad thing but should be chk'd by a pool sevice.

Sterling garage heater wont always light.

The flame sensor is dirty - have the unit serviced. Modern furnaces require regular maintenance!
