The LG VX6100 appears to be locked to Verizon wireless. Thus it does not have a user-replaceable SIM card. The phone number gets programmed by Verizon staff when you purchase the phone.
Problem solved! Turns out that my son didn't realize that you have to call your voicemail box and delete voice messages by pressing "7" on the keypad. He thought that when you pressed "erase all" on the text message menu it erased voice mail, too. So the mailbox was full, as it only holds twenty messages. Sometimes the most obvious solution is the solution!
Send the pic to a smarter phone and have it forward them to email. My friend had a LG VX 8100 (now mine.) I sent the pics to him and he forwarded them to my email. Convoluted but it does work.
