Possible to install a SATA hard drive?

I found a pdf manual here and it shows that this computer does not have SATA ports, but does have 2 IDE ports, so if it's an IDE hard drive you want to install then you should be able to. However, your 2nd IDE port is likely used by a cd/dvd rom drive, so unless you are replacing the hard drive rather than adding one, you would need to remove the disc drive. There are very affordable external usb disc drives available.

Please confirm that your model is Veriton 3600G. Below is the link to the actual specs and the page where you will find the drivers.

While the first link will take you directly to the product specs, clicking on the second link will open the product selections page. Scroll down and locate "Additional Resources" area. Click on Driver and Downloads and a selector should popup:




Ensure that you select the following choices:





This will take you to the driver download page. If it does not display, ensure that you have enabled popups, and installed java and flash player.

As a side note, you have pointed out that you have installed a core2 Duo while the original specs indicate that this system has P4 or Celeron processor. Be advised that installing an incompatible processor may result in a malfunction.

Acording to your OS you can purchase it.

MS-6772 is a MSI motherboard model number and not even listed on the Acer website. It must be an OEM mb. made by MSI for Acer to use in one or more of their pc models. Would the pc model be a Veriton 3600G Desktop? If so, you can download drivers for this model on the manufacturers website:

I am assuming you have Windows XP. If not, please let me know and I will post seperate instructions.

First, make sure you have the latest windows update. This is very important because it adds the BUS add-on for the sound and LAN. Since you cannot get online, you will need to do a manual download and save to a cdrom, external hard drive or flash drive.

This will take about 30 minutes to install and reboot.

Once complete, download the chipset driver here. The audio and LAN are integrated on the motherboard and this all-in-one chipset driver will automatically install them to computer.

You can see if you need additional drivers by going to start menu and right clicking on my computer. Hit properties and click on device manager tab. This will bring up devices. Any device that has a yellow question mark beside it will need to be downloaded as well.

okay as long as the heatsink fits it will work. socket type is for the processor. also dont forget the thermal paste. look up www.ribbitcomputers.com
