Some computers have water cooling but I suspect your laptop does not have it. When you or your 2 years old daughter (as in my case ) pours water onto the keyboard it does not just effect the keyboard. If the laptop unit was on at the time the liquid gets into the motherboard and short circuits components and eventually can corrode the links that link the multi layered circuit board.
After my one week old laptop had water poured in it by my daughter (14 years ago ) my laptop behaved exactly the same as yours.. This kind of damage is not covered under warranty.
You might be able to copy the hard drive documents off if you are lucky.
Good luck with your situation !
Do not like your chances of success in your endeavours. Was it switched on when you spilled the liquid in to the keyboard as damage of the short circuiting type is a real possibility.
Usually you need a service manual as every laptop if different in its way of disassembly. Suggest taking somewhere to be repaired but chances of no serious damage are low.
9 years ago I had a daughter poor water over a laptop that had been purchased one week earlier. The guy at the shop advised me it would just need to dry out and after it was dried out the keyboard did not work properly and then the laptop stopped working altogether.
I would strongly suggest the good old battery 'hard reset'...
1.) Turn off laptop 2.) Unplug it from power supply 3.) Hold down the power button for a minute 4.) Plug it back into the power supply 5.) Power it on and wait to see if the battery icon is showing up and charging
This has resolved a few of these ghost battery issues on some of my clients laptops! If that fails, please provide the exact model number of the Gateway laptop and which operating system you're using and we'll see if we can't find another fix.
It sounds very unlikely but it does sound like the harddrives crashed and need to hard drives in both. That would be the cheapest route but if not the hard drive then it would be the motherboad not sending power to the harddrive.
hello,
if the hdd is not being recognize by your Sony laptop, may be because the device is not responding any more, anyway this is still new you can have that Hitachi replace via the warranty, but your not suppose to tell them what happen cause that would fall for intentional damage. Just tell them it stop working.
Thank you for using Fixya
If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LEDflashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faultyinverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow myinstructions to identify the fault and possible fix :-

1.Try to understand, without waranty not able to service your laptop without charge.
2.I thing you are not statisfing with acer service
3.In this scenario you go to consumer court with strong proof.(that means how many days of your laptop stay in service center only like that)
That is caused from your valve seals. These seals slide over the valve stem and keep oil from getting into the cylinder. The reason that it stops after it warms is because these seals are rubber and when they heat up they are soft again as they are from the factory. When they are cold and have a lot of age on them they become brittle and hard. That is usually not to expensive of a job to do. Just depends what part of the US you live in. My daughter had a 93 Accord and I bought the seals for 35.00 and replaced the my self but I have been working on vehicles for 30 years. That job requires special tools. Hope this helped.
it would be cheaper to get a net book and an external hard drive you can get a good one for about 200$ and an external drive enclosure for like 20 and a used hard drive for like 30-40
