WON'T RECHARGE

Take it back, warranty coverage is usually one year. From the description it sounds like the DC jack in the player is loose, {normally solded to the main board}

If your portable DVD player work with the AC power adapter in the wall outlet.100% the litium battery doesn't take any more holding charges. The litium battery should last u about 2 years with minium usages 2-3 hours a day.But that the DVD player and the litium battery must keep in very well conditon and wheather wise. Not in the heat or cold and the humitnity well shorten the lituim battey life very quickly and also could damages the portable DVD player too dosen't matter how much u used it.Tries webites like Amazon.com,Partstore.com,Ebay.com to buy a new litium battery or a compatible one.

How do I recharge the battery? This is a portable DVD player with a battery pack and the instructions say recharge battery before useing, so I put the battery in place and plug in the power cord and left...

Hello, You are doing it right! the battery should be charged with in the 24 hour period. There are two things to consider : One, is the possibility that the rechargeable battery has dried(due to wear and tear)and is not accepting the charge or The second possibility is that the power supply isn't working properly, therefore, not charging the battery.
It is possible to know at least if one of the two is working just by operating the DVD player while connected with the AC adapter. Turn the DVD on and play a disc, if the unit operates, this eliminates a defective power supply and only leaves a defective battery pack, if it doesn't work than consider the power supply defective and repairs are due. As to where to buy a replacement part is for someone else to answer. Good luck!

Missing part

Charger does't connect to DVD player.

Connects to battery. Built your own, Radio Shack, female to male jack, power supply from anything handy or spend $2 at thrift shop, $2 multimeter (Harbor Freight, Cheapo), junk variable resistor (pot).

7.4--8 V adjust. Or, get fixed value resistor dependent on PS voltage.

Charge anything,

And power supply for DVD house current.

Battery wont charge.

Unfortunately, Mintek seems to have gone out of business, so there is no way to purchase replacement parts without finding them online somewhere.

The problem could be caused by one of three things:
  1. The battery is dead and cannot be recharged
  2. One of the battery connections is broken in some way
  3. The cord is bad and will not provide power
If the battery is dead, you're stuck with keeping it plugged in or trying to find a battery online. If one of the battery connections is bad, the only way to test it is with a new battery and you're back to finding one online. If the cord is bad, it wouldn't provide power at all, so it sounds like both of your cords are fine.

Battery charge

Simply plug the included power cord into the power input on the DVD player. Leave the unit "off". Allow to build a charge. The included power supply items are:

Flexible power supply: up to 2.5 hours rechargeable Li-ion battery,

12volt car cigarette lighter adapter and AC/DC power adapter

It sounds like there is a connection inside the dvd player itself. If you feel comfortable taking it apart you will prob. see if there is a missing connection.Hope this helps!
