NO DISPLAY TRT 17 " TFT LCD MONITOR POWER CORD MODEL NUMBER MX174 My Doctor gave me this monitor. He was going to get rid off it but he gave it to me some how his staff misplace the power cable. Can you tell me which power cable will work with this monitor. I want to do performe some troubleshooting with this monitor however I wont remove the the cover because of store electricity. I like the refresh rate on this monitor. I am willing to purchase the Power Cord. I suspect the power cord was faulty but I could be wrong but I'am willing to take a chance. THE SERIAL NUMBER FOR THIS MONITOR IS S/N 170501000544 POWER INPUT 100V-240V ~ 50-60 hz Number 83912300910 - This number is under the Mickey Mouse Plug of the LCD Monitor. If anybody no the requested info I will certainly appreaciated. Thank You ................................... Irving

PC repair shop should have this power cord since it is used a lot for Laptop AC adapters.
If it still does not power up, then you may have to look inside, see my pictures so you know what to look for inside the monitors that is more than 2 years old.

Monitor STFC (Self Test Feature Check)
* Turn off the monitor
* Plug the monitor power cord directly into the wall socket to remove any surge protectors or APCs from the troubleshooting equation
* Unplug the monitor video cable from the back of the computer
* Turn on the monitor
* The floating dialog box should appear on screen against a black background. If the issue appears during the STFC, the monitor is defective. Get it replaced.

Hi Gaz,

First, verify the monitor is functional.
Monitor STFC (Self Test Feature Check)
Turn off the monitor
Plug the monitor power cord directly into the wall socket to remove any surge protectors or APCs from the troubleshooting equation
Unplug the monitor video cable from the back of the computer
Turn on the monitor
The floating dialog box should appear on screen against a black background.
If the issue appears during the STFC, the monitor is defective. What are the results please?

No display, clipping sound appear

The clipping sound is the internal safety switch that keep shutting down the monitor.
It means there is an internal problem on the main board (overvoltage, bad component , short).
Try unplugging power cord and leaving it unplugged two or three hours, this will reset ICs by draining power completely from circuits, it is called hard reset, it rarely works.
CRT monitors waste up to 15 times more energy than TFT screen, if your CRT starts giving troubles, then it is a good time for upgrading it to a new TFT.
