Whirlpool duet frontload washer leak

My 3 month old Whirlpool duet frontload washer is leaking from the detergent drawer in the front. Its not a minor leak it loses about a quart of water. Sears fabulous repair service won't get here for 10 days. I removed the drawer and cleaned and replaced it but it still leaks. It seems as if it isn't draining the fabric softener and the tray overflows. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Lindsay

Mine is gushing water out of the soap dispenser drawer. Flooded my basement! There must be a blockage but I can't get to the tube.

A quart of water over the course of a cycle is pretty significant, other then trying to remove the fabric softener section looking for a blockage in the dispensor(which is basic and should be real evident ) theres not much more for you the consumer to look for.(or should you have to for that matter its why you bought a NEW appliance). As for the service , you've purchased a Whirlpool product, therefore you can call any whirlpool authorized Company out to service you dont need to wait for Sears!!!!!!!

You could have a clog in the housing underneath the dispenser where the water flows through a hose into the tub.
Pull the dispenser drawer completely out.
There is a tab that needs to be depressed to release the drawer and remove it.
Check the opening at the bottom of the housing just inside the dispenser housing opening to see if a small sock or garment is clogging this opening.
Reach down into this opening to see if an item is inside the hose.
This is the normal issue that will cause water to leak out of the dispenser housing.

Wash the dispenser drawer thoroughly with warm water. Make sure that you pull off the siphon covers and wash all siphon holes. This process is described in your owner's manual. Replace the dispenser drawer and try the washer again.

The following link explains how to determine where a leak may be coming from in a Whirlpool Duet:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3576656-washer_leak__front_loader

In many cases, the rubber bellow (door seal) is the source of the leak and will need to be replaced. If the bellow is ripped or torn the following link explains step-by-step how to replace one:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3574186-installing_a_door_bellow_on_a_front_load

NOTE: THe bellow does wear out from time to time and will need to be replaced. However, using too much detergent, the wrong type of detergent, or loading the washer excessively can contribute to premature wear and tear and deterioration.

If you have any questions, or are having problems determining where the source of where your leak may be coming from , please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

Frontload washer leaking from under detergent dispenser

Hello, I worked on a problem like this a few days ago. Your problem is going to be a blockage in the inlet to the drum. To fix this problem find the inlet pipe normally located above the door behid a flap of rubber..push your fingers up there to see if you can feel a blockage..If not your going to have to remove the lid of the machine to access the pipe that leads from the detergent drawer to the tub. Look at the rear top of the machine..You will see three screws....remove them and push back and lift the top panel (lid) now you should be able to access the pipe. Pull the pipe off and clean it out, i suspect you will find a sock blocking the pipe :) If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to comment again. Good Luck! Mike

Water leaking from my whirlpool frontload washer

open the door and check between the drum and door frame. There is a large rubber bladder completely surrounding the drum. Pushing the drum further back into the machine will let you see the entire thing and unfold it. These often get small laundry like socks stuck there as well as sharp objects like nails. You may have a tear in it which will leak like that. Replacement parts run about $70.00.

Leaking detergent and fabric softner

Possible your inlet into the tub from the detergent drawer is clogged; try pulling the drawer out gently to clean out. Or use a tooth brush. If you are good at 'do it yourself ' jobs you could open up the top of the machine to see what the problem is. If the machine is under warranty, call the dealer.

Sounds like the back of the soap drawer or inlet hose is partially blocked. Check whether junior has posted a toy car in the drawer
