2003 Lancer has new battery but will not stay charged.

2003 Mitsubishi Lancer has brand new battery but will not stay charged. Only driven about three times per week mostly at night. Seems to be a drain on the battery somewhere in car.

Just started having the same problem. I pretty well located the problem to the a/c clutch relay. The relay contacts are staying closed and energised even with the vehicle turned off. I have not eliminated the a/c controls inside the car, but I do not believe that to be the problem. Found it by removing and reattaching the negative battery several times and could hear the contacts closing. Further isolated it by removing the a/c fuse and disconnecting the a/c wiring harness.

Most obvious would be a device left on in the car or opened truck that looks closes.... more likely the alternator could not be charging the battery and probably needs servicines or the alternator belt is busted....

It sounds that there might be a charging system problem. Check all connection to the battery terminals. If no success ther have your charging system checked

Sounds like you may still have a charging issue. Most auto parts chain stores will check this for free. You should have the charging system checked.
