2003 Mitsubishi Lancer has brand new battery but will not stay charged. Only driven about three times per week mostly at night. Seems to be a drain on the battery somewhere in car.
Just started having the same problem. I pretty well located the problem to the a/c clutch relay. The relay contacts are staying closed and energised even with the vehicle turned off. I have not eliminated the a/c controls inside the car, but I do not believe that to be the problem. Found it by removing and reattaching the negative battery several times and could hear the contacts closing. Further isolated it by removing the a/c fuse and disconnecting the a/c wiring harness.
Its the alternator problem
Most obvious would be a device left on in the car or opened truck that looks closes.... more likely the alternator could not be charging the battery and probably needs servicines or the alternator belt is busted....
Yes something draining batt. glove box light? interrior light? boot light? if not jamming relay or even alt.
