Front panel has a small frame that snaps in .To remove pry gently at the top with a thin object and work your way around.

Maybe your BIOS switched to VGA output, try plugging in another monitor which has VGA input and change settings in BIOS for default output to DVI.

Plug in a different monitor. This will tell you if it is a graphics problem or a screen problem.

Try different setting that works.

Your graphics card on that should push that resolution so I would probably lean toward the tv. Try changing the aspect resolution or (zoom button) on the remote to change the way the screen is delivered. As long as the resolution on the laptop is a widescreen resolution and the same for the television. Make sure in your tv settings, that the aspect is set at 16:9.

you need to download the latest graphics driver: Go to acer website.

Are you using the HDMI? Try turning the speakers all the way down. Just hit the < button on the front panel of the monitor

When this occurs with mine, I power down the PC through windows and the monitor using the lower right power button, let bot sit for 10 - 20 seconds, then power on the PC and switch on the monitor a second or two later and the icon disappears.

Before I did this I found it would eventually disappear.

Acer support claim the H243H is a touchscreen unit, that's what the icon is all about, buy you must have Vista to use it, not XP.
