Projection TV sets have several common problems listed below.

Problem #1) Convergence

Symptoms:

• Screen Looks 3-D
• Colors wont align
• Screen may look distorted
• No Audio/Video - makes a chirping sound.

hi, you`ve lost your convergence ic`s, unless your very proficient at solder work I`d advise you call a tech, will require removing 2 large IC`s and possibly a few small support parts, resistors, chemical fuses etc. Every place is a little different but runs approx. 300.00 at my shop, gl, video-tek

Had a similar problem , mine was like yours but with
different colors....fallowed the directions in that
blog....and it was fixed in 10 min :D

It is your convergence IC's going out, they cost about 40 $ for both, if you know someone that can solder, i would have them do it, once you see the new parts it is prity easy to find them on the board in your tv, repair shops usually charge 4 to 5 hundred

I can help you out because I have circuit details of KP-65WV600but let me know what does it mean of blue rainbow lines?
I would appreciate if you post picture of those blue lines to understand problem of TV.

There are few cold (dry) solder joints in convergence board of your tv Sony KP-46WT500
Please inspect convergence board and resold dry solder joints.

Same thing happened to me. I had to get it fixed. They said it was a "tube".

Now, my problem (7 months after getting it fixed) is that it suddenly seems a lot dimmer. I'm not 100% sure, and was wondering if there was some kind of diagnostic to run to find out for sure.

Usually when a tv is dropped the phospher screen inside the picture tube will detatch making the rainbow color This cannot be fixed as it requires changing the picture tube. Only other thing is demagnatize it with a demagnitizing coil (used by tv techs) but not likely to fix it since it was dropped. You have a bad picture tube.

tubes ok may need adjustment.
