Please check the following:

First check the motor duct gasket. The motor duct gasket is visible once the tank is removed. It is located underneath the handle on the top of the base of the machine. It has a black rubber coating around it. If there is no suction there please let us know. If your machine does have suction at the duct, continue to check the following:

- Ensure the Ready Tools Dial is set to the appropriate setting (Floor Cleaning or Hose Attachments).
- Remove the tank from the machine and ensure the tank lid is attached properly. The front window must first hook onto the lip of the bottom of the tank and then drape over the tank. Latch the bottom tank to the top tank lid. THIS LID CANNOT BE ATTACHED PROPERLY IF THE TANK IS NOT REMOVED FROM THE MACHINE.
- Make sure the Water Tank is not full on the outside of the bladder. If it is, empty the tank.
- Ensure the hose is firmly attached to the back of the machine. If not, re-insert as necessary by twisting into place.
- The machine must be in an upright, locked position and set to the Hose Attachment setting. If the handle is slightly tilted back while using, it will create a small gap at the suction inlet (where handle meets gasket, above the Bottom Tank) which will cause little or no suction.
- Check the red Tank Lint Screen for debris. If the Lint Screen is dirty, the unit will have poor suction. Clean the Lint Screen if necessary.
- If the float flap door in the tank lid is activating prematurely when you turn the machine on, this flap door should be replaced. This tank may need to be emptied.
- Check the Tank Lid and Tank for damage.

My Bissell Proheat is not vacuuming upp the dirty water from the carpet

There has to be a leak in the suction somewhere. Inspect the nozzle, tank, etc to see if you can find it.

My Bissel Lift-off Deep Cleaner is not taking up the water from the carpet

I try not to answer questions if I'm not positive of the answer, but I thought I'd give your question an educated guess... With a regular vacuum, if the filter is clogged, the vacuum looses suction. It makes sense, that if your Bissel is otherwise working fine... There's a good chance the filter is the problem. I hope I was of at least some help. Good luck and Merry Christmas, Bill

Will not **** the water off the carpet.

If the carpet cleaner won't "Extract" water from the carpet, try using the upholstery / hand tool. If you have suction there, your selector switch / knob is either in wrong position, or broken. There may also be a tear in the hose on the inside of the cleaner, or the waste tank is not sealing well.

No suction. when i turn it on it cycles water intermittently.

you might need to replace the belts. The pump belt is what cycles the water. Here is a link to the belts you need and the manual:

I have the bissell x2 12 amp carpet shampooer

The water should be picked up fairly rapidly into the area surrounding the clean water bladder. Try checking the lint filter to fix your suction problem. It is located in the top clear plastic section (the one with the dial to switch from tool to floor use). One the under side of it there is a small (1 inch square) red filter with a little door on it. Flip open the door and it is probably clogged with hair, carpet fibre. etc.. Clean it out and you should have suction.

Won't extract water from carpet.

Seems the 1950W is now obsolete, cna't even bring up a drawing of it. Usually when the vac. motor is running, then there has to be suction. But if a seal or gaske is missing, then the suction will be lost. So you might check the dirty water tank to make sure there isn't a part missing or out of place. Check this out, it is for a 1950-3:
