I have a Polycom Soundstation phone (older model with no caller ID screen) and it's plugged into an analog line. After I plug the phone in, I can make the first call just fine. But after I hang up from the call, the phone won't release the line! I can't make another call unless I totally unplug the phone & plug it back in. Any help? Thanks!

SOURCE: Conference call with a Polycom SoundStation EX

The conferencing capability to bridge 2 (or more) external stations comes from the telephone equipment/service that you have purchased. Either you are behind a PABX or Electronic KSU, which provides multiple phone service to your office, or you purchase conferencing capability from your local telephone provider (Verizon, AT&T, etc). In either case, the way to initiate a conference call would be the same as when you would have a desktop/office phone and establish a conference/bridged call to external parties. Usually this occurs by having one party on the line, flashing the disconnect button momentarily, getting a new dial tone, dialing and connecting to a second party, then flashing the disconnect button again, which signals the equipment to bridge those two calls to your station.  On the SoundStation EX there is a Flash button that provides that capability of momentarily flashing the disconnect button.  Try and see if that works. If not, then you will need to make arrangements to purchase the external equipment or service from your provider.  If you have the PABX or electronic KSU, it may also be a configuration option that you will need to have your support person for your telephone system, activate for that station connected to the SoundStation EX. Hope that helps.

SOURCE: POLYCOM SOUNDSTATION 2W

I thought well I wonder what holding down other buttons would do to get rid of this cursed PLEASE WAIT issue.
I tried * and # together and hey presto it worked.
I did however have to go in and turn IP mode off.

Polycom soundstation 2 does not have a dial tone

That Polycom runs off of Analog dial tone.
Either a dedicated line or in most cases from an ATA off the phone system.
You should be calling your vendor/tech in that handles the phone system to check programming, cabel, jack and the Polycom itself too.

You need to update the software on the device. I called their support line and the tech explained everything. This has been a common problem with this conference phone.

We have an old polycom sound station which is not wireless and does not have the screen. We need to conference with 2 people. I know we can do it with the soundstation 2w but can we do it with the old...

It would depend on if this is going through the phone system, or just a phone line all by itself.

If on the phone system, there should be a conference button, that is like a "flash" button on your home phone.....

Just plugged caller id box in to panasonic kxt7420

There is no such thing as correctly plugging an analog caller ID box into a digital phone line.

CID display comes from a TD-193 card mounted in the Key Service Unit and it only displays on Panasonic system display phones designed to work on a TD system. The only system that passes CID through to stations is a TA-824 and certain models of TDA-s that have special analog extension cards.

You can use the analog box, but you have to bring the line from in front of the system to the CID box.

Polycom 2201-03309-001

The older Polycom SoundStations have power supplies that allow either anaog or digital signals. The phones themselves will work on either.

If your office phone systems are different, or if the extension it was originally plugged into was configured for analog and you are now plugging into digital would explain the problem.
