My printer worked very well until I changed the toner. I see dust around the back toner. I brought the generic toner. The store manager said that was the problem. Then I brought new HP toner. It is the same problem. It still does not work well. The print smeared. The drum is clean. There is one line of dust in the black toner. I clean it before I print. It keeps clean about half page. I just was hopeless. HP 2605dn is my printer.

Smeared output can result when you refeed a printed page into the printer to make a double-sided page. This happens because the rubber rollers that grip the paper to pull it into the printer can pick up toner from the first side’s printing and smear it. So before replacing parts, this is an easy thing to check. Printing multiple pages consecutively will make the pages print progressively cleaner or you can clean the rollers with rubbing alcohol.

Smeared toner also happens because the nonstick coating on the fusing roller is scratched or has baked-on debris. This can happen if the printer is in a dirty environment especially. If you are comfortable removing the fuser, you can try to clean it with a soft cloth and alcohol, but make sure you let it cool down first!

Finally, if this does not resolve your issue then make sure the fuser is heating; toner that is not heated properly will fall from the page and smear. If the thermostat is bad or the fuser not working properly, you will most likely need to replace the entire fuser assembly. This will be pretty expensive to repair so hopefully it's one of those other issues.

SMUDGES ON LEFT SIDE OF PAPER WHEN PRINTING

Sometime the toner will "dump" into a section of the chassis and remain there until blown out. Get a can of "air" at Target or other source and blow around the area where the toner cartridge rests. It may be that you can't literally "see" where the toner dust is.......

How do you reset toner counter on phaser 7750? Thanks

On the back of the 7750 toner there is a metal piece you can push in near the end that goes in to the machine first, this will tell the printer that the toner you put in has not been installed until now. I would not suggest doing this unless the toner is full and is using geniune xerox 7750 toner.. If you refill it with generic or non-7750 toner it can damage the machine and will void any warrenty you may have left on the machine.
If you switch machines with the 7750 toner the machine will not know how much toner is remaining in that toner. Xerox changed this method on the 7760 to use a toner chip to fix this.
Hope this helps, thanks

Magicolor 4650 waste toner box, can I empty it myself?

Yes you can, it's easy but can be messy. I use a standard doggie pickup bag from any pet store. Just wrap it around the mouth of the bottle, leaving some air space, and tie it off with a rubber band, then shake and tap the bottle until most of the toner has been transferred to the bag. Dispose of the bag in office trash, and be careful. You don't want to breathe too much toner dust, it can be bad for your health. It should start right back up when you reinstall the bottle.

Changed the printer Drum now the copies look like

If the drum was stored in a location that's too hot the drum could be damaged, if it's a generic replacement drum, you need to return for another or credit. If you can put back the old drum and you don't get the smudges, you just got a bad drum.

The printer works normally for 4 or 5 pages, then

Joyce didn’t think about doing the job herself until she watched the repair technician perform his maintenance one day. "This is so simple that it's crazy not to do this yourself, " Joyce wrote. Joyce reports that she now buys generic rollers for $8 and changes them herself.

"The generic parts don't last as long as the OEM part but it is still cost effective to use the generics and to avoid paying a hefty service call," Joyce wrote. "I also change each roller as it is needed instead of changing both at the same time. This way you get more life out of the rear roller. What used to cost us $115 now costs $16. This can add up to significant savings in a short period of time.

Keep it clean

If you’re working on a laser printer, there’s usually a significant amount of toner dust inside the printer. This excess toner can make the paper slip or stick if it gets on the rollers, causing stray marks on the paper. I recommend removing the toner cartridge and vacuuming the inside of the printer. Just be sure to unplug the printer first.

Change the rollers

Next, I would recommend swapping out the pick-up rollers. The process varies depending on what type of printer you have. The larger HP printers use clip-on rollers, which have a small tab on the end of the roller. If you squeeze this tab, the roller will slide right off of the axle. You can then squeeze the tab on the replacement roller to put it on.

The lower-end HP printers, such as the LaserJet 1100, typically use smaller clips or screws to hold the rollers into place.

Replace the fuser

The fuser is what melts the toner to the paper. Over time, the fuser’s wax rollers can become cracked, causing poor image quality. Typically, these cracks are caused by severe paper jams. I’ve also seen a few fusers destroyed by stray paper clips or staples.

The tricky thing about replacing a fuser is that it gets really hot—especially on high-speed printers. So give the printer adequate time to cool down before changing the fuser, and wear gloves if needed.

I have a Xerox 6250DP. it was working fine until I replace the black toner. Now, the quality of impression is poor and the black color appears and dissapears

I bet you used a Generic toner (Mediaq Science?)
this will contaminate the developer and cause poor prints. Vacuum, Replace developer, replace toner (Xerox Brand). Good to go.

Skidmarks on the printout

Time to think about replacing the image drum unit. Excess toner is not being cleaned off properly and is winding up on your printed pages. The drum unit is separate from the toner cartridge, and you normally replace the toner cartridges several times before needing a drum. Replacements are available from many online sources and at office supply stores. Generic replacements run around $50 and the original part is around $100.

Poor color printing

sound like the printer need a good cleaning. including the toner opening.
The toner may be expired. as the color pigment deteriorated with age.
usual color pigment store in a dry and cool place can last 2 years, if lefted out in the printer, it may only give you max 1 year.

HP Laser Jet 2550l

When moving/storing Laser printers, its suggested that you remove all Toner Carts prior to the unit being moved. The Toner "Dust" (If you will) will settle in the bottom of each cartridge, and become compact. (When LJ's are used on a normal basis, the toner is tumbled around like clothes in a dryer).

Sometimes just turning (Shaking?) your toner carts will help the toner flow better in the drum.

I hope this helps you a little.

Keeps showing J1 error, toner light is flashing

The J1 error means the toner cartridge needs to be replaced. Since you just replaced the cartridge, you should remove the cartridge and repeat the following steps.. Shake the new toner cartridge horizontally four or five times and then remove the cover. Slide the new toner cartridge in until it locks in place. It sounds like the cover may still be on the cartridge.
