Hi,
To transfer video from your camcorder to your computer you will need a firewire cable (IEEE 1394). Only with this cable you will be able to transfer video.

Please note that you will also need a firewire port on your computer. if you don't have one then you can buy a firewire PCI card from your local copmuter shop.

After you have installed your firewire port and connected your camera, you will need a video processing system. Windows Movie Maker is on Windows XP and it comes for free. Run it, and click on capture to begin the transfer of your video to your laptop.

Please see the following link for more info and pictures on firewire cables and ports.

Software for panasonic digital camera nv-ds65

I have uploaded the camera driver here.
http://rapidshare.com/files/151262301/Driver.rar.html
Un rar the file and press the setup icon in the file.
After this the computer will recognize the camera and you will be able to use for example the moviemaker program to capture (transfer) the movies from your camera.
You can contact me if you need a more detailed instruction

I have problem with capture Dv file from Camera to PC

Make sure you have the camera's power supply connected when you're doing a capture. (i.e. don't run from batteries). Try a different cable and try another port on the computer.

Erasure prevention

Sounds like a CCD sensor problem ( no image in capture mode but ok in playback ). Replace CCD block and will work fine.
