You have got HP thats the biggest mistake.
HP really makes bad computers
Call them up and check they will try to sell you there products, saying this and that.
Try to update the drivers and check if there is any updates for the Bios and may be that works out.

nor plug in the front panel cable correctly

HP didnt weld the case shut and is your problem now. (self inflicted in most cases 99% or bought it used, not from HP)
btw the front , the front goes dead if back used and the reverse by design.
and only HP driver work here and must match your unstated OS.
