My ice maker has stopped making ice. We had to shut down the main water valve to the house and after returning the water to the house is when the ice maker stopped working. We have established that water is being fed to the refrigerator.

Good day,
For all reasons it is best to do a step by step procedure to get the ice maker up and running.

First step is to take a small paper cup of water and fill the cavity until it is near full. With the ice maker turned on, close freezer door and wait 3 hours to see if it harvests. If not, the ice maker is bad, and must be replaced. If the cubes harvest then.......
Three possibilities.
1. The water supply from the house is not delivering water to the water valve. Shut off the house at the meter, disconnect the line going to the water valve, and with the line pointed into a bucket, have someone turn the valve back on for a 15 second count. The water should come out smartly. If not, the line and it's fittings will have to be replaced.
2. The fill tube from the back of the machine that feeds water into the back of the ice maker is frozen up. You will have to remove the ice maker to visually inspect that tube. If blocked, it needs to be defrosted, but use caution. Too much heat too fast will start to melt plastic and vinyl parts you don't want melted.
If this is the case, then once cleaned out, you will have to change the water valve located in the back bottom rear of the machine because it is leaking during the off cycle.
3. If everything checks O.K. up to this point, you will have to purchase and install a new water valve, and install it.
P.S. Under very rare occasions the electric circuity in the ice maker will fail to send a signal to the water valve. Although rare, it can happen, in which case the best option is to replace the ice maker and water valve.

The refrigerator stopped making ice. The stem of the freezers is up or down to release ice? There is a trap to realese water cooler? I await your reply thanks. Roberto

Ice maker stopped making ice. For this problem you have check few things. First thing, is the water filling in the ice maker chamber and then ice maker not making ice? Or, the water is not filling in the ice maker chamber so it's not making ice. If the water is not filling in the ice maker chamber then it's clear that ice is not getting made due to no water in the chamber. For no water filling, the problem is either water supply valve turned off so water is not filling. Turn on the water supply and it will fill. But if the water supply is turned on then the other possibility is ice blockage in the water fill tube. There is a tube from which the water runs and enters the ice maker chamber. If this tube is blocked then water will not enter the chamber. The tube needs to be defrosted, by using hair dryer. This procedure melts the ice collected in the tube and water starts running again. But if water fill tube is completely clear and no ice blockage or any other blockage. Then other possibility is water valve at the back of ice maker unit. This water valve is for letting the water in the ice maker. The water valve open only for 7 seconds and in this time the water fills in the ice maker chamber and then water valve closes and the same procedure runs again in the next water filling cycle.------- For your information I will mention that there are two valves. One is the main valve the back of the fridge section. This main valve lets the water enter the refrigerator and other valve is at the back of ice-maker section. This other valve lets the water to enter the ice maker. In most of the cases the fault is water valve at the back of ice maker section. ------------- The other above possibilities which I gave you is water not filling in ice-maker chamber so it's not making ice. But now consider that water is filling in ice maker chamber but it's still not making ice. Then the problem is ice maker unit itself. This unit is controlled by main board. But in most cases if water is filling the ice maker but it's not making ice then its faulty ice maker unit. So see if the problem is water not entering the ice maker then the water fill tube is frosted by ice or the water valve at the back of ice maker is faulty. Replace the valve. ------------

The ice cube maker is leaking How do I shut it off?

Good day,
If the water continues to run into the the ice maker even though the ice maker is not cycling, then the water valve in the bottom rear of the machine has failed.
To stop the leak, you would need to shut off the water supply from the house.
To repair it so the ice maker would work, you would need to replace the valve assembly. It is a non-repairable item.
Changing the valve is not difficult and most any appliance parts house would carry it. Take the model number with you, or the valve if you have removed it.

Icemaker started shooting water in a contoiuous stream and ran all over the kitchen what happened?

Good day,
The process is as the ice maker runs thru a harvest cycle, during the end of the cycle the ice maker sends a signal to the water valve on the bottom rear of the machine to open for approx. 7 seconds to refill the well of the ice maker.
If you unplug the machine while this is happening, and it stops, then it is an electrical problem inside the ice maker.
If you cannot make this work, and you have to shut the water off to the machine then it is a faulty water valve on the bottom back of the machine.
Replace whichever item is causing the issue, ice maker or valve assembly.

Good reason to shut off the ice maker and water at the house meter when gone from the house for extended periods of time, such as a vacation, weekend trip ect.
I had a call where this same situation occurred in an upscale home with the parties gone resulting in approx. $30,000.00 damage to the home.

Good day,
No, a new water valve should solve that problem. The diaphram in the valve is not completely closing.

Ice maker not producing ice. Changed the water solenoid valve and the ice maker. still no ice! what is the problem here. how can i remedy this.

Good Day,
Obvious but,
Shut water off to house at the meter. Remove supply line to water valve. Place end in a bucket, have someone turn on main valve for a 15 second count. Should have a hard steady supply from the line into the bucket.
If no joy, and this is common,
Remove Ice maker and see if ice has built up in supply tube from outside back of machine into the rear of the ice maker.
If iced, defrost, but caution. Heat guns, hair dryers ect. can do more harm than good. Go slow.
I do not recommend heat because of all the plastic and vinyl. Just shutting down the machine by unplugging it, and air drying.
P.S. I've installed brand new ice makers and valves that didn't work out of the box.

Water won't stop running in ice maker & the freezer is overflowing with water . had to turn off water main to the house to stop the overflow of water.

Hello, This sounds like its going to be the inlet valve stuck in the open position. For now locate the water shut off for the ice maker by following the pipe into the basement or to where ever it goes. There should be a shut off valve so you can get the main water back on in the house. Your going to need to replace the valve which is normally located behind the panel at the back of the refrigerator. If you have any other questions please feel free to comment. Mike

Brand new ice maker, water fill to tray will not shut off

The new ice maker should tell the dual water valve on rear of refrigerator to turn on if the tray makes a complete cycle. So the new ice maker is defective or the water valve on back is stuck open that leads up to the ice maker. Unplug the wires to the water control valve on back of the refrigerator and then turn the ice maker on. If the water continues to flow I recommend replacing the water valve. If the water stops coming to the ice maker I recommend returning the new ice maker. You only need to unplug the side of the water control valve leading to the ice make. I also recommend a pre-filter for the incoming water before the water control valve. Makes the water and ice better and keeps trash from damaging the water control valve. Let me know your results or if you need more assistance, Thanks, Sea Breeze
