There is an electrically controlled lock on the door that prevents opening while the machine is in operation, and sometimes for a short period after a cycle has finished.

Sometimes this lock can get stuck and requires some persuasion to release.

This may sound odd but try it:

Make a fist with your hand and bang the door, near the latch, with the side of your fist. Do this firmly, but obviously not so hard that you will damage the door or, more importantly, your hand. This can often release the latch that should have released automatically.

I fixed it like this:
- press and hold start/cancel for 4 seconds
(Lights come on etc.)
- press and hold start/cancel for 4 seconds
(Lights go off)
- Turn off

A minute or so later I heard a click, and the door was unlocked.

I have a Hormann 5500 series. The door closes but automatically reopens when it touches the ground.

I do not know, but I guess that a "bad" handling of the machine during a move may have maligned parts.

This is only a guess.

Dishwasher door wont close

you did not giver manufacturer, model and year, it is not possible therefore to give detailed info what to do - for future references - do provide these "little" details, telepathy is overrated and usually do not work...

from your description can be several causes of that, one of them is motherboard fault, another will be actuator and third can be mechanical fault within lock or with hinge... make your pick...

Door lock light is on door is not locked and

Hi,

Make sure you are allowing the washer to completely finish its cycle before opening the door. It is normal for the door to lock at the end of a cycle. The locking mechanism keeps owners from opening the door before all of the water has been drained. If the door on the washer is locked, select the "Drain" or "Spin" options on the front-load washer. This will completely drain the water from the system and unlock the door, allowing you to open it.

Thank you !!

Door stuck shut hot point wd420

It happened on our machine. The soloution to this for me was to take the lid off (two screws). Unplugged from mains. I found the connector to the door had vibrated off and was just hanging loose. Plugged it back in and it worked straight away.Door opens as normal.
Don't forget to look in the manual for how to get the door open in an emergency

Door won't open at end of cycle

Hi,
Thank You for contacting Fixya.com
The most common cause of this problem is
1. A faulty or broken door catch.
2. A faulty interlock. This is the part that the door closes in to.
also worth checking the spring inside the door lock mechanism attatched to the door, as these can become dislodged.
To open the door you will either require an engineer as the repair necesitates the removal of the lid. The engineer will ensure the machine is disconnected from mains of course. He will double check power is off before reaching down inside the machine to press over the door latch, which is just visible as a white pointed object, poking through the door mechanism. The engineer will push it towards the door seal.
Some older models have other devices that will prevent machine opening if it has not pumped out fully, or mechanical devices that check for drum rotation that can be knocked during the spin. Could really do with age and model No. of machine.

Have a nice day.
