My candy cdc266 dryer starts when you press the on switche but as soon as you let it go the dryer stops, it goes if you keep holding the button in but stops as soon as you take your finger off.

There are push to start circuits used for motors and then there are holding circuits that keep the unit running. This way the dryer stops if the circuit is open due to high temperature or end of the cycle. It seems as if the holding circuit (could be a rotary switch that stays closed while the dryer is running) or a holding circuit relay (stays closed until circuit is broken by the control) has failed.
Hi, Do you have it wired correctly? did it just start to do this? Look for a wire that is rubbing against metal...look and see if a wire is broke in you heating element....if it is electric heat...
there is obviously a dead short somewhere and you will need to explore til you find it...if you know how to use and ohm meter properly it will help...
hi you have to clean the inside of the machine I.E. remove the drum and on the back of the machine there are two heat sensors, the ceramic sensor is possibly faulty and needs replaceing
