I have a bios password active for no reason on my tecra m2. I bought the laptop saturday and went through an update, then after turning off and back on, it's asking for a password immediately!

Can't answer your screen question, but I can propose a workaround - your Toshiba laptop has a monitor port on the back - you can plug in a standard monitor, and ignore the cracked screen temporarily until you can replace it. hope this helps
The monitor port is the 15-pin analog VGA D-shell (female) port.
The online User's Guide for your Toshiba Tecra m2-S630
I would contact toshiba.com and speak to their technical department as I am sure I have read a bullitin about that issue by way of an updated driver and BIOS firmware update. Hope that helps.
You can download them from Toshiba here
You'll have to have the complete model number of your Tecra M2-???? to find the correct set of drivers.
If you have questions about installing updated drivers, please consult this excellent tutorial on updating your drivers: XP or Vista
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take a moment to kindly rate this post....thanks!
You can remove the cmos battery (small round battery on the motherboard) for about 45 min and the password should be cleared.
Bios will be resetted to default settings.
first ,you have to get into your BIOS.With most laptops ,you press "F2" right after you press the power button to turn on your computer. But it's not always "F2". It may be "Esc", "F1", "F8" or "F10" depending on the particular model.
after you get into the BIOS, you'll see tabs across the top of the screen.Choose the one that says "Security" and then you'll be able to change the password .
get to the mainboard there is a jumper near the cmos battery usually shows the word (jbat) near it , try to change its position for some seconds while power is off , this way will clear cmos and set the mainboard bios to default settings. start the system hit delete or F2 to enter setup then exit saving changes.
