Need a projector that works from the BACK of the classroom

My school district lists allowed projectors for purchase and I cannot figure out if any of them work from the back of the room. What is the terminology to look for? Presently my teachers of young children cannot use their projectors well, and cannot use their document cameras at all, because with the machine where it needs to be, the image displayed is enormous, far larger than the projection screen. Having the projector and document camera within 6- 10 feet of the screen - essentially at the front of the room (No, it is not a "short throw projector") works fine for kids sitting in desks. It would also work if ceiling mounted. We cannot afford ceiling mount. And little kids need to be all gathered on the rug in front of the screen with the projector behind them. Someone was told the kind we have is called "boardroom style." Any help welcome.

Use a long focus lens if you can get one.

We have an Epson Powelite projector mounted in a classroom and just recently it is projecting everything with a purple tint to it. Before that the colors were not as vivid as when we first installed it. ...

An image is produced in these projectors by passing color through three different LCD panels. One is a Red, one a blue, and the last one a purple. It sounds like the green panel is damaged. The only way to tell is to take it to an Epson authorized service center.

I work at an elementary school and the multimedia projectors are hung from the ceiling (a suspended ceiling) in a wooden tray and hanging by chains. Is this a wise choice?

First suggestion is checking to make sure that the tray/chains are secure - that it's not going to fail at at a point of connection either at the ceiling or point where the chains fasten to the tray. The tray must be strong enough for the weight of the projector (most InFocus classroom projectors are not that bulky and heavy).
Hanging anything with weight from the suspension ceiling braces is not recommended. If possible, having the wire/chain continue thru the ceiling panel (a small inconspicuous hole can be made through the panel) up to actual ceiling joists or whatever material the ceiling system itself is fastened to is best & the most secure. I've used steel aircraft cable (available at any Home Depot or hardware store) in place of chain, partly because it only requires a small pencil-sized hole thru the ceiling panel, hardly noticeable.

Most hanging fixtures (theatrical lights, projectors, etc.) have a secondary/backup safety cable or strap system should the main fasteners fail. In this case, if the tray and ceiling connection is secure, a safety strap holding the projector onto the tray so it's not sitting up there loose or able to be knocked out at all should be used. This also will help keep the projector's aim aligned to your screen should something bump the tray, you won't have to readjust it. (See this link attached for an example of a strap securing a projector).
(In all cases, if you have a building or school district maintenance administrator or someone who's job description requires them to be aware of state or district safety regulations/OHSA rules, they should be consulted to make sure you're following any safety issues that may apply specific to your classroom/student needs.)

NEC NP200. Projector turns on initially but after 10 min. turns off. To use it you have to continually turn on again because it won't stay on.

I'm a techie with a school district and have the same problem. My suspicion is it's a lamp issue, though the teacher using it says there was no low hours warning. Unfortunately I don't have a spare to try out so if anyone can state categorically that it IS the bulb then I will purchase one.

Hi please follow these steps:In a world of PowerPoint presentations and the latest digital downloads, the overhead projector may seem obsolete. The fact of its continuous use in schools and colleges across the nation shows the perseverance of this classroom essential. But, when it breaks down...then what? Look below for a few tips on how to repair an overhead projector.
  • Ensure the wire is not loose from the plug by tugging gently on the cord. Cover any exposed or frayed wires with electrical tape, get a new wire and plug if there is significant damage.
  • Step 3Remove the top of the projector and compare the wiring with the diagram in the projector's manual. Check all the wires are connected as listed and none are missing. If you don't have the original manual use the model number located on the back label to get a replacement online.

HP vp6320 projector ten seconds it shuts off

I had the same problem, the first couple of replacement bulbs i ordered worked fine but the last 3 i got, 2 of them have been faulty, i just sent them back and they replaced them. If its too late to send the bulb back you can go to the settings on projector, select lampsaver setting, its probably set at off, turn it on. Your bulb will be a little dimmer in this setting but shoud let the projector run ok.
