2700HGV-B rebooting Kind of a wierd problem. My PC is not monitored by the firewall (DMZPlus) and my girlfriend doesn't do any internet-heavy computing. I have 2 Digital Cable boxes but they have never caused problems. Basically, The router loses connection (doesn't reboot, only internet light switches off) whenever I try to refresh the server list in STEAM (doesnt matter which settings) download a new map in Counter Strike Source, or simply try to play Team Fortress 2 or Portal (Portal isn't even online enabled). I thought maybe it was the new-generation of their games, but HL2 Episode 2 doesnt cause any problems. Team Fortress 2 will continually lose connection about 5x after connecting to a server for 16 seconds each (the time for the internet to come back), after which it works fine as long as the map doesnt change. Otherwise, it works perfectly. Firewall log is continually filled up though, which is extremely odd as I turned the firewall logging off (or at least as much as possible), and before my internet was disconnected (no settings were changed at all, even the speed and phone number are the same), I didn't have the firewall issue (didn't have TF2 or Portal then to compare)

My ISP provided the router and did some testing after I called them about this problem. Apparently They have revision B2, I have B1. But the testing showed that my router is fudged, so they're coming to either fix or replace it. Could being on the floor under a drawer have caused this?

are you using port forwarding at all?  most of those games probably require a specific port to be routed to your computer.

Is this device a modem and router in one, or a router only that connects through a separate modem?

If it's a combo device, then a firmware update will probably fix your issue. Your ISP should be able to fix this. Hiding the device on the floor under a drawer could actually cause this because, like any computer, a router needs air flow to cool it off. Routers can overheat and freeze up leading to some weird symptoms.

If you have two devices (router and modem) then make sure it's not the modem acting up.

My com has best defence against online threats, so i can't access internet, i tried basic connection like reset but it didn't work.. I couldn't make Lan network connection eather.. what...

The main problem is in your BIOS setting make sure it wasn't disabled through your BIOS setting. If it is then enter your BIOS and change it. Reboot the system and see if it works and connects you to the internet. By the way how did you post your question if your internet isn't working.

Unidentfied network is connected, no internet access, i see a chair between the internet acces and the laptop. tried to reboot everything several times, turned off firewalls, nothing helps/

That unidentified network, have you connected to that before and browsed the internet? Just because you connect to a network, doesn't mean that network is setup to allow internet access. It could be a simple fact that you need to connect to a different network.

I have compaq cq45 laptop & bsnl 3g modem. i am unable to connect www.ramsurvey.com please help me.

check your firewall settings. go to START > CONTROL PANEL > WINDOWS FIREWALL > RESTORE DEFAULTS then delete the temporary files in IE by going to the TOOLS > INTERNET OPTIONS > DELETE under the browsing history > DELETE ALL then reboot the computer.

If it doesn't work go to the interface of your anti virus program and disable the firewall embedded in it then reboot.

Make sure that the setting are also set to auto:
START > CONTROL PANEL > INTERNET OPTIONS > CONNECTIONS tab > LAN SETTINGS > AUTOMATICALLY DETECT SETTINGS is the only one checked.

All the words on the screen suddenly became distorted and unable to read, kind of the same appearance if someone were to press hard on a screen of this kind how it leaves a wierd color impression. Also...

sounds like a videocard problem, thermal issue with the GPU, and yes running it 24/7 will decrease the lifespan of the monitor.
However getting 3 years life from a samsung CRT is a pretty good effort considering how often their picture tubes fail.

My internet doesn't work.

Take it back to the HP store and as long as you have not been adding and subtracting programs which can kill internet access then they have a duty to fix it or replace it.

One such program is Zone Alarm Firewall which when removed can leave behind a thing called True Vector monitor that can do wierd things to your internet access

My x has been hacking my computer

#1 Disconnect from the internet and install a current antivirus and run a scan to see if any viruses are found. You can download AVG and all the current updates to a Flash drive on another system. You can do the same with SPYBOT Search and destroy with looks specifically for spyware.

#2 After you have removed any viruses from the system, boot to the safe mode, log on the administrator account, change the password for the administrator and all users, then reboot in the normal mode.

#3 Install a 3rd party firewall software like Zone Alarm before re-connecting to the internet

IF this doesn't work, then rebormatting the system and reinstalling Windows will resolve.

Westell 6100, to smart for job!

you have to activate DHCP in order to make the westell a modem "dummy" (it will just act as a bridge to the internet from your Linksys.
on the modem, go to a setting that is similar to "Public Routed Subinterface". dont choose anything that says "proxy" or "NAT".

find out the Linksys's IP adress by looking at the devices or computers list on the Modem's home page.

Now, put that IP adress on the setting "Public Routed Subinterface" (or similar). If it has a "Subnet Mask" option, type in "255.255.255.0". Also, If it has a "open firewall" or "bypass firewall" option, enable it.
If it does not have a firewall option, disable the firewall on the MODEM, not the linksys. This is also called DMZPlus mode.

If the above does not work, go here on the entire instrucitons for setting up the linksys with your modem.

2wire 1701HG Gateway Router VPN Setup

Go to http://gateway.2wire.net and click on the firewall icon. Click on firewall settings and, if prompted, enter your system password to reach the advanced settings page. select the computer that will function as the VPN server. In the left column, select PPTP server. click on Add, then done. or try changing the IP scheme to the 172.16.0.0/255.255.0.0 or 10.0.0.0/255.255.0.0 schemes by accessing gateway.2wire.net, go to home network icon, then advanced settings. but if you manually configure or disable dhcp, be sure to write down the subnet mask & IP assigned to the 2wire then click on save. if all else fails, run it on DMZPlus mode, however this solution will allow all inbound traffic to the computer. if it still doesn't work on DMZPlus mode, the VPN is either using the same IP scheme, is using IPSec 50 or 51, or will not work with the 2Wire gateway.
