Go on your network go to "192.168.1.1"

just type it into your web browser.
It will take you to a setup page and thats where you can control everything. Be careful you can really screw things up in there.

How to setup router name & router password

To connect to your wireless router, the router's wireless settings needs to be configured with the SSID, encryption etc. and also the wireless cards in all the laptops/computers needs to be configured with these router's wireless settings. Then the laptops/desktop computers can communicate with your wireless router.
Connect a LAN cable from the Linksys to the LAN port on your computer.
Open a browser and enter the Linksys configuration URL
http://192.168.1.1
The default login = admin
The default PW = admin
You can protect your router by changing the default admin PW (write it down and put it in a safe place)
Go to the wireless configuration and set up the SSID and WPA or WPA2 encryption.
Now apply these settings to the wireless card in your laptop/computer.

I was having connection problems to the internet. A verizon tech came out and said my modem was old and out dated. He replaced it with a new modem but I don't know how to get my linksys wireless router...

Most of the modems that Verizon (depending which market you are in) techs are using are combination modem/routers, so you may not need to use your Linksys wireless router anymore. Typically the default SSID (wireless signal name) and password (if there is one) is printed on a label attached to the router. You can use this default info if you'd like or reconfigure the router using the following steps. Log into the wireless router either by a computer that successfully connects wirelessly or by physically connecting with an ethernet cable. Once connected, log into the router by open a web browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Apple Safari), and typing the router's address (usually 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1) into the Address (or URL) line. The default username and password is usually "admin" & "admin" or "admin" & "password". Once successfully logged in, look for a tab or link that says "Wireless" or "Security". You'll be able to change whether security is enabled or disabled, and the password associated with it. Your security options are WEP or WPA (or WPA-PSK). WPA-PSK is the most secure, but WEP is also an acceptable choice. Select the security option of your choice and either enter text into the passphrase generator or choose your own password and type it into one of the security key text fields. If you use a password that is not a plain english combination of letters and numbers, be sure to write it down so that you can enter it as needed on other wireless devices that need to access your router (ie-pda phones, game consoles, laptops, desktops, etc). Be sure to save changes so that the security settings and password is saved.
Let me know how you make out.

You should have no problems. Wireless is a protocol onto itself which is not OS specific. Hence the ability to use game consoles, security cameras and even phones on a wireless network.

How to set up wep security on a linksys router that was already set up with no password it is a linksys wrt54g on lrouter a dsl network

Hi
Begin setup of your Linksys Wireless Router by first plugging in the power. Give it 10 seconds or so to initialize and then plug an ethernet cable into your wall jack and into the port on the back of the router marked Internet. Next get another ethernet cable and plug one end into your laptop and the other into one of the ports labeled 1-4 on the router. Your computer is now properly connected to the router to begin its setup and configuration.
thanks & rgds

My Dell lattitude D830 won't connect with linksys

Right-click the wireless icon with red X and click on View Available wireless networks. Highlight the name of your wireless network and click Connect. If it asks you for the network key, type in the secuirty key of the router and press connect. That should do it. If you don't know the wireless security key of the router, you can see it by accessing the router's Setup Page through http://192.168.1.1 on your browser. It's under wireless tab then wireless security sub tab
