I have an HP 4730 and HP 4700 that keeps printing a solid stripe across the back of the page, replacing the toner fixes it temporarily only.. Any idea what the problem is?

The transfer roller may have a flat spot on it. (I assume the stripe runs parallel to the narrow edges of the paper.)

A roller problem will show up as a repeated stripe. Measuring the distance from one stripe to the next (use the same edge on each stripe) will give you the circumference of the offending roller. Divide this by ? (about 3.1416) to get the diameter. Each roller is a different diameter, so that makes it easy. Use the metric edge of the ruler - the math is simpler.

Appreciate the update and additional information. If I understand it right, your vehicle then has two connectors at the back: 1 big black/red/gray plug:
  • Yellow/light Green - always ON B+12;
  • Yellow/Black stripe - ACC B+12 goes to the IGN switch;
  • Black - chassis/ground;
  • Blue - remote trigger for add-on amplifier (if connected);
  • Blue/Red stripe - illumination (can go to parklight switch).
and the 2nd smaller gray 8pin plug:
  • White/Red Stripe Right Front +
  • Brown right front -
  • Green Left Front +
  • White/Orange Stripe Left Front -
  • Light Blue/Black Stripe Left Rear +
  • Yellow Left Rear -
  • White/Blue Stripe Right Rear +
  • Light Blue Right Rear -
Cheers.

Right Front:
White w/ Green Stripe (+)
Brown (no stripe) (-)
Right Rear:
Purple w/ White Stripe (+)
Light Blue (no stripe) (-)
Left Front:
Light Green (no stripe) (+)
