Tip & How-To about Cell Phones

Phone Cannot Send or Receive Calls and Text Messages: A Simple Electronic Glitch

It is frustrating when only your phone cannot send text messages no matter how strong the network signal is. Sometimes you feel nobody cares about or remembers you because nobody calls or texts you but actually there are. Your phone just can't be reached or can't receive text messages. When these happen, turn off the phone; remove the battery and then the SIM card. Insert the SIM card to another phone and try sending text messages; if you still cannot send text messages, remove the SIM card and let it sit off the phone for at least fifteen minutes then insert it gain. You should be able to send text messages after that, but make sure you have credits.

The next thing you should look into is the phone. Make sure network signal is present then insert a known good SIM card in your phone and try sending text messages. Reset the phone if you still cannot send text messages, but back up important files and data, such as contacts, videos, images, and messages, before doing so.

One simple way to "reset" the phone is by removing the battery and letting it sit for at least fifteen minutes. Another way is by restoring the phone settings to factory settings. Simply navigate to settings then phone settings and select "restore to full factory settings" depending on the brand and model of the phone.

This tip is not intended to solve virus or firmware problems but rather to avoid unnecessary visit to the service center and save few bucks from a problem only caused by a simple electronic glitch. Check the network signal strength and your credits before jumping into any conclusion.

can't send or receive text messages

It is likely that the phone has 'dropped off the network' or your message centre number has been accidentally changed.

The phone periodically sends a signal to the network to keep the network updated with its location. That way, when a call or text is made to your phone, the network knows which CELL to send the signal to (the last CELL place the phone was found in). If the network has not received a signal from the phone saying it is being turned off or has not managed to keep the network updated, the network will not deliver a text although this should not affect sending texts (in theory).
To get it working again, there are a few things to try:
1. Remove the battery without turning the phone off, remove the SIM and power up the phone. When the phone has started, turn it off, re-insert the SIM and start the phone.
2. Go into Network Settings and manually try to connect to another network and when it fails, set it back to automatic.
3. Temporarily put your SIM into another phone for a minute (you could get lots of texts coming in so read them before you put the SIM back into your phone.

I can't send an MMS or pic on my straight talk ZTE Majesty cell phone

If you do not have at least 2 steady bars of reception strength, text messages or pic messages could fail sometimes. If these fail no matter what signal strength, you should contact your phone provider (StraightTalk).

how do i set up GPRS on a china I4 phone

Good day. Call your network provider, and talk to the online personnel for this matter. Ask assistant for configuration settings of your phone, they will automatically send you the configuration settings thru text message. Once you receive the settings save as default for your phone, then try to run the GPRS, sometimes it takes an hour to run for test, depending on your area if you have a strong signal. Thanks

unable to send or receive text messages. strange symbol in top left corner of screen....help!

Network provider sometimes caused this problem because of their system mulfunction or upgrade. With that sometimes we can call but texting unable to send or received, but sometimes a signal indicator is full but not connected to the network provider, it means a feak signal. My recomendation is to contact network provider hotline and tell your problem or replace simcard. If yuo totally cannot call and text then positive your fone has a signal problem and need repair on it. Good luck
