I think you should upgrade the firmware on your router. After upgrading the firmware reset the router and reconfigure it manually. I will also suggest you to create a new wireless network and use security modem WPA. Try to connect to the new wireless network and see if that works.
Is it asking you for wireless network key? You need to check the wireless settings of your router. Connect one computer to the router with the Ethernet cable. OPen the setup page of the router and check the wireless settings of your router.
Hi, If you want to make sure that the signal from your router is secured, the only way you need to do about that is to put in a password or passphrase before connecting to the wireless connection. that is the security the router can give you. unless they know the code. they wont be able to connect to your router freely. and about the updates on the linksys, it is ok not to update at this point. and even if you dont have your disc. the router will still work. the disc only give you a software for the router to connect automatically. while windows can already give you that option.
I don't have a solution -- I'm having the exact same problem and I'm looking for a solution. Called Kindle tech support, and all they could recommend was to go to McDonald's to see if I can connect using their wireless. They DID say this Linksys WRT54G router is a compatible router with the 3rd Gen Kindle.
have WPA2 security enabled. When I type my password the iphone says
"unable to connect." I just disabled the security on my router and was
able to connect. How can I connect my iphone with the security
if you don't know your security code, then you will need to reset the router (Use the reset button on the back) then you should be able to connect wireless unsecured. from that point you can type the default gateway IP address (192.168.1.1) in the address line of internet explorer, this will open the web interface of the router (Leave username blank, admin for password) then you can re-enable wireless security and pick a new code (I recommend an old 10 digit phone number you can easily remember but hard for others to guess)
First think I always do is Reset Linksys Router and disconnect extender. Then turn off all security on router. Do soft reset on ipod. leave extender off and see if you can connect to the linksys. If you can then plug in extender (still with security off) then see if ipod connects to extender.
you might have to soft reset ipod again once you connect the extender.
if that works. reset security. Let me know how that goes.
