Hi, I just bought a nixon lowdown and was wondering how you turn off the hourly chime?
It is so simple. I struggled with this forever then called customer service. To turn off the hourly chime just press the bottom right (wave/reset) button while in the normal time/tide screen. You do not need to go through all of the modes. Just one button press from the home screen. When you see the target icon disappear you have done it.
Why does my lowdown says ROM FAILED
Push the bottom right and bottom left buttons simultaneously.
You should see the chime indicator disappear (little circle thing to the right of the tide chart).

You don't fix it. Hopefully you mean it's only 3 days old from being new and you can take back to the shop for refund/replacement.
ROM - stands for Read Only Memory and is basically the chip that all the software and information is stored on. This runs the watch and it's this that has failed. You could try reseting the watch by removing the battery and then replacing it.
