Adding VCR to Samsung LN40B630NIF so I can record programs.

I no longer have the manuel though don't think it would help with digital....Was given different answers from Samsung....Does this model have a tuner? Have tried the 3 color cc-axial cord, but didn't work...Maybe I put on wrong connections....Please inform me if recording on the VCR A410u(A) from a digital Tv can be done....thanks

SOURCE: sharp vcr problem

The way to connect them is as follows:
1. Connect the cable from the wall to the cable input on the cable box.
2. Connect the cable box RF output to VCR RF input (VCR must be on channel 3).
3. Connect the RF output from the VCR to the RF input on your TV (TV must be on channel 3).
After all the connections are done, leave the VCR and TV on channel 3 and use the cable box to select the channel you want to record programs from.
Good Luck.

SOURCE: How do I record a tv program with a Sharp A400

Your VCR is no longer capable of recording "off air" tv signals. All tv stations are now broadcasting in digital format, your VCR is analog only. You can however get a digital converter box that will receive "off air" digital signals and convert them for recording on your VCR. CLICKING HERE will give you all the information you need to hook up the converter box... Good Luck!

SOURCE: Would you happen to know

Hello! Here is the link to our remote codes, if that fails follow these additional steps for the Power Scan this should resolve it as well.
http://www.dishnetwork.com/downloads/pdf/user_guides_and_manuals/Remote_Codes_Web_Page.pdf

***BEFORE STARTING THIS USE THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE LINK TO PROGRAM THE REMOTE TO 222

  1. With the desired equipment on, press and hold the correct Mode button until all mode button backlights illuminate (about 3 seconds), then release.
  2. For AUX mode Power Scan ONLY: press 0 for a TV, press 1 for a VCR/DVD, press 2 for any other device, then press *.
  3. Press and release the Power button.
  4. Press the Up button once a second while pointing the remote at the desired equipment. If the code for the equipment comes up, the equipment will power off.
  5. Press the POUND (#) button. If the code entered is valid for the remote, the mode light flashes three times.
  6. To verify the code works try several different functions for that equipment.

My vcr recorded my shows before i switched to a digital adapter now i cant get it to record anything ive tried everything

If the digital adaptor is connected to your TV, then the VCR will not get any signals to record. The VCR will also have to be converted, by adding another digital box, unless the first box has two digital tuners! You can connect another box if the VCR has two scart sockets, the second box connected to the other scart socket. To record after connection, leave the box on, set to the channel you want to record, and set the timer on the video. However when selecting the channel to record make certain that you select the scart socket with the box connected to it. Also make certain (if the VCR has it) PDC is set to OFF as it no longer works.
This way you can record shows while watching anothe channel.

Since I connected my TV to a digital receiver, I do not seem to be able to record programs with my Grundig GV 4010 SV, when I am out. I can however record emissions, currently being emitted by any station....

Make sure you digital receivers out to tv is going to the antenna in on the vcr, and the vcr out to tv goes to the input on the tv. Then set the digital receiver to the proper channel and set the vcr to record channel 3 or 4.(whichever channel you have the digital receiver set to) This should allow you to record.

My VCR doesn't record from my Digital TV. It did before.

Your VCR does not have a digital tuner. If using an antenna or basic cable, you must decode the digital signal through the D/A converter first, then send the signal via the RF cable (Screw -on ) or Audio/Video RCA to the VCR. You will have to manually press record. My guess is that you were used to programming and leaving it. So, if you are/were using your VCR as a tuner to schedule recordings, it is no longer a valid option. If you have a cable or satellite box with a DVR, this is the way to go. I am not sure if anyone offers a VCR with a digital tuner. Google and discover. Unfortunately all those hours (years in some cases) we spent learning how to program our VCRs is now in vain.

Ambiuous Information out there

Hi,

I kind of think the people that wrote the manuals didn't bother hooking up a unit. Here is some help.

The converter box is nothing more then a tv tuner that picks up a digital signal and converts it into analog so your tv can view it.

The vcr, to record programs has to be set to channel 3 or 4 (whatever the converter box is broadcasting on) to record. The converter for the vcr will have to set to whatever channel you want to record from every time you use the vcr and left on as this is the only was the vcr can pick up a signal. Make sure the power saver on the converter box is set to off.

If your tv converter box has digital pass through, all you have to do is turn the tv converter box off and it your tv should pick up the singal from your vcr when you play tapes. You also use this method to access the menu on the vcr.

VCR and Digital Cable

You will either need to leave the converter box on all the time on that channel you want to record, and program the VCR to record channel 3 at the appropiate time, or learn an extra step in how to set the converter box to come on at the same time as the VCR begins to record. So there you have it, I hope this helps...accordianman
