Some of the programmes not opening

When your operating system begians fail all kinds of weird things can happen. Blue screens come from software & hadware. (shame you did not write down the message shown while in the blue screen)
First run a full system scan for a virus. Once complete. Put your Win XP CD in your CDROM. Restart your notebook. If your notebook does not start up the CDROM restart the notebook again & press F5 key every 2 seconds. This will bring up windows boot menue. Using your keyboard's up & down arror keys move to the CDROM & press enter. The Win XP CD will startup. Read the on screen instructions, you want to re-install windows only! Doing a re-install only over writes windows repairing it's self. Most of your personal data will not be erased.
Once complete, go to Dell's web site & install any drivers that are newer than the drivers shown on your Dell CD.
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&ServiceTag=&SystemID=INS_PNT_1501&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=

Re-start the notebook. Than run windows update. (which may take some time to complete & include a few restarts).
Everything should go back to normal.

Good Luck & kind Regards
