I have a whirlpool toploader(Model 3LSR6233EQ1) and it has just stopped in the middle of the spin cycle and won't start again.
The lid switch cuts off power to the washer and will cause the washer to stop and not to start at all when it fails or when the lid switch strike breaks. Check the lid switch strike located on the middle right side of the lid. Replace the lids witch strike if it is broken with part number 3950298.
Push and hold the lid switch, using a screwdriver, through the hole on the right side recess of the top cover and start the washer. The lid switch actually clicks when activated.
Check the continuity of the lid switch when activated if the washer still doesn't start when the lid switch is pushed and held. Disconnect power to the washer prior to servicing to avoid the risk of electric shock.
Remove the screws at the front bottom corners of the console then slightly pull the console forward to clear the console tabs from the slots on the cabinet, and then flip the console to the rear of the washer.
Disconnect the wiring harness connecting the timer to the lid switch wiring harness connector on the cabinet then using an ohmmeter, check the continuity of the lid switch while it is being pushed. Set the ohmmeter to XR1 then touch the test leads to the right and left terminals of the lid switch connector. Replace the lid switch when the resistance reads open.
