3COM 3102 Business Phone Freezing and not loading I have recently purchased some refurbished 3COM VOIP phones. Currently we are using the same phones on the system. The image loads up but right after the image finishes it just stalls there. The dash just continues to spin for hours. I have followed the manual either way on auto discovery or manual setup still same outcome. any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I have phones that have always worked on this system, but the phones that I attempted to add are still not working. The screen freezes at the MAC address and version display. The dash just stays blinking.



    Let me know what you think. Do the phone have the wrong version on them, just not sure why they are not working.

    I tried what you asked and that still didn't work.



    A little more info for you. I currently have several of the exact phones working and have been working for years. It's just these new refurbished phones that don't want to connect. They run download images and get stuck after the display shows the MAC address and version number which is R5_0 or something like that with the dash continuing to flashes infinitely. I hope this helps in figuring the problem out.

Hi,i think the problem is from the ROM of the phone,since its a refurbished phone,the phone ROM might have been corrupted,i think the phone ought to be flashed(formatting the entire phone) to restore it back to a perfect working condition.
However,this can only be done by a qualified phone engineer in you area.

A quick fix would be, Go to “Tab To It” and choose “Operations”. Click on “reboot”. Allow several minutes for the system to re-boot. After re-boot is complete, unplug all phones and plug them back in again. Wait a couple of minutes to confirm phones reboot. Test to confirm that the problem has disappeared.

On the web interface, use
1 Click System Maintenance > Purge Data.
2 Click Purge Database
This ll do fact reset.

What's the number for customer service for 3com

3Com was purchased by HP and has discontinued the NBX product line and support. They have also as of September 31, 2013 stopped selling licenses. Some resellers are still able to get them but I'm sure that will stop soon enough. The NBX tech support number I had was for tech support is now a prize hotline number.

As long as someone hasn't been poking around in the phone system, this is a phone company issue. I have seen this many times and it has always been a carrier issue. Typically with PRI's or integrated access analog lines.

NCP stands for Network Call Processor. There is a problem with communication. Since your server is running, reset your router (disconnect power, wait a few minutes, then reconnect) that supports your IP phone.

If the phones are only 6-8 months old you should be calling 3Com. those phones have a 1 year warranty and once you register them they will help you troubleshoot and replace them if needed. Can you provide more detail? Do you have any network issues while this is happening? Does speakerphone work but the handset doesn't?

sorry to say, but you have to contact your landline operator for this since it doesn't depend on the type of phone you have connected to it

The msg button on 3COM nbx business pnone is not working

There isn't any configuration needed on the Phone system or the phone to make this work. The light must simply have burned out. This would require a new phone to work (unless you know how to solder). f it's under warranty then you can get it replaced for free (1yr). you can also map a button on the right to light up/access the same mail box as a work around.

Cant connect additional 3102 to nbx. Please help!

3102 phones require group 2 licenses purchased from an authorized NBX reseller. if you don't have enough the system will not allow the phone to be discovered. You can check this unler the licenses tab while logged into the phone system as administrator.

Roll back phone software

The phone is in a continuous because it is trying to connect to the NBX. You need to make sure it is on the same network as the NBX. Also, within the NBX you need to make sure Auto-Discovery is enabled. You also need to check how many group 2 licenses you have, as this phone requires one to run on the NBX.
