Acer Aspire 5100 Laptop Screen Works Intermittently
Acer Aspire Laptop Screen Works Intermittently. This Acer Aspire 5100 is 2 years old with 2G RAM. Computer boots fine. However, laptop screen either works properly at boot-up or the screen is black at boot-up. An external monitor always works even when the laptop screen is black. Other than the screen problem, unit operates properly. Any suggestions? Thank you.
Additional Details Upon further investigation, I do not think it is a problem wih the backlight CCFL. When the laptop boots (as it always does), and the screen does operate properly, I can toggle the screen on and off via Fn 6. When turning the screen (backlight) off via Fn 6, I can see a faint image from the LCD screen. However, when the screen does NOT come on during boot-up, I can NOT see the faint image of the LCD. Any suggestions please?

You should check on the Laptops manufacturer website support pages. They should have a list of know ram manufacturers that have been tested with your laptop.
Check in the manual to see if the ram may have to be installed in pairs.
Also, be sure the new ram is seated properly in the slot.
The ram may not be fully compatible with your laptop.
