If you are using Windows.
Open the Windows explorer.
Plug the device in a USB port and wait for the computer to recognize it. After it is recognized the Windows Explorer will show two additional icons, one of them a CD-ROM.
Click the icon with the CD-ROM, and it will execute the U3 operating system. A small yellow icon with a U3 label will appear on the task bar. Right-click the icon on task bar and select the "Open U3 Launchpad". Point to the Settings button on the right side.
Right click that button and select the U3 LaunchPad settings
In the window that pop up point to "Autorun" button and click it.
Click the button that will say Enable.
After that it will launch automatically whenever the device is recognized by a computer.
If the U3 launchPad is missing from the device you can download it from the SanDisk site.
Here is the link. Download it and install it on your computer. Note:It does not launch on MacProducts or Linux.
I use Vusta & Windows Media Player(WMP) 11. Sometimes the computer makes a sound and the system tray shows that a device search is happening. But neither the windows explorer or WMP recognize the mp3.
What version of windows do you have? What version of windows media player? When you plug in your device, does your computer make any sounds like something is connected?
