Doesn't pick up photo paper -

Sends message to reinsert or lower the phototray - reinserted several times - unplugged and reset machine twice - it seems that the paper isn't being lifted and runs into two struts on the back of the tray - what now? Thanks

  • Anonymous Apr 06, 2010

Thank you for your prompt response. I don't think we have it nailed down yet, though. The problem is that this practically new HP Photosmart 309g All in One has a special photo paper tray that worked just fine until the gremlins took it over last Friday. I don't know what happened. Thanks again for thinking about it - I'll let you know when a final solution is found.

So in other words, the printer jams when you put in photo paper, but not with normal paper?

Check your printer to make sure it supports printing to photo paper. If it does, check to see what kind it supports. There are different thicknesses of paper and the one your putting in may be too thick.

Orange light blinking, cleared paper jam, changed printer cartridge, won't print subsequent documents.

Double check all doors/ rollers for small pieces of paper stuck in the rollers. Sometimes just opening the door in question and closing will reset the paper jam sensors. Paper jams can be smaller than your pinky finger nail. So double check,

Comment if it still isn't working.

Your printer may need to be reset. Disconnect your printer from your computer. Unload the sheets of paper from the feeder. Open the printer cover and remove the cartridges. While the cover is open, check for any paper jams or obstructions in the paper path and the cartridge carrier's path. If all is clear, close the printer cover. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it.
When the printer turns on, reinsert one cartridge first. Close the cover. Check for any errors. If no error, reinsert the other cartridge. Replace whichever cartridge is causing the error to appear. You can also try to reinsert a different known working cartridge to determine if the other is faulty.
For your wireless connection problem, you may need to reset the printer's wireless network settings first. Please refer to How to Reset the Z1400 and Z1500 Series Network Settings.
To reconnect the printer to your wireless network, re-launch Lexmark Wireless Setup Utility on your computer.

Frequent Paper Jams in Brother HL-2140

Every 120,000 pages, the paper feed rollers, fuser, transfer roller, and OPC belt cartridge should be replaced, usually by a trained techncian.
Fuser and OPC belt units are customer-replacable.

The multiple feeding of the paper into the printer is due to a worn paper separation pad. part no. LM0711001. If the machine is picking up the paper okay and the jams occur solely from multiple sheet feeding, then this part is probably all you will need. The steps required to access and remove & replace the separation pad unfortunately is about 10 steps. Better consult a tech.

    Reinsert cassette

Turn the unit off and hit the back of the camera twice near the battery compartment with the palm of your hand. Sounds crazy but it worked with my camcorder Sony DCR-TRV480. Problem started when I used 8MM Head Cleaner. I think the roller got stuck inside camcorder. The trouble code came up C:31:22. Hope this helps.
