By pops? do you mean it explode? how many lamps? it could be the fan that supposed to be ventilating the lamp or it could be the the ballast, why the ballast because the ballast regulates the voltage in order the keep the lamp on, for ignition it sends around 15,000 volts after that it regulates the votage to a small amount of voltage around 5,000 so it could be sending the big amount of voltage all the time never regulates that or it could be regulating and then sending another big amount of voltage over and over until the lamp doesnt handle those changes.

If the screen becomes dark, the color looks unusual, or the LAMP
indicator on the front of the TV flashes, it is time to replace the lamp
with a new one (not supplied).
Use only a replacement Sony XL-2200U for your TV. Use of any other
lamp may damage your LCD projection TV. Contact your Sony dealer for a
replacement lamp.
Please refer the "Replacing the Lamp" section in your TV model (KDF55WF655 | KDF60WF655 | KDF55XS955
| KDF60XS955 operating system manual for step-by-step
directions for replacing your TV's lamp.
Note: Before replacing the lamp, turn the power off on the
main unit. Wait several minutes, then unplug the power cord. (The
cooling fan will continue to blow for about two minutes after turning
the power off.)
Be sure to allow the lamp to cool down completely before removing it.
The surface of the lamp remains extremely hot for at least 30 minutes
after the power has been turned off.
No, tv has temp sensor to monitor heat and fans to cool lamp.
When lamp in dlp tv reaches to its working life that is approx 2500 to 3000 working hours, lamp gets break.
Let me know, is it new lamp that got pop?
Is it Sony original lamp or an aftermarket/ cheap lamp?
Hello I think I have the same issue but my screen would flicker as if it was going off then on and this tool all but 2 sec to flicker. but it would only happen after the tv has been on for like 20 mins or so. My quick fix was to put a house fan behind the TV and blow air into it. but before I put the fan I noticed that it was very hot behind the tv. could this be the cooling fan issue and if yes how do I fix it and which one is the one that is not working? since I put the fan the problem is gone. but I don't want to always use the fan to cool it.
In my opinion, you should check exhaust fan that blow hot air of lamp out of tv, this fan seems running slow.
