Maytag Plus Side/Side slow loss of cooling to the Fridge side

This is a 7 year old Maytag Plus Side by Side. The air vent from the Freezer to the Fridge getting blocked with ice over a period of time. Shutting down the complete unit and waiting for the ice to melt is one unacceptable way of solving the issue (until next time) The freezer side shows no sign of problems. I guess the question is what could be causing the ice buildup, I suspect it could be in the electronic controls

The only vent we have checked is the upper vent (on the inner wall between the freezer & fridge) the ice builds up where the vent goes through the wall. Furher, there is ice buildup behind the rear freezer panel on the freezer wall (mostly at the bottom around the aluminum coils) the buildup process takes anywhere from 10 days to 30 days and reaches a point where no cold air will transfer from the freezer to the fridge department.

    Thanks for the info.

Will try this and let you know the results, may take a few days (weeks) to see if ice buildup stops.

Sounds like your having a defrosting issue. you either have a bad defrost controller, or a bad heater/ defrost themostat.defrost controller more often the culprit

Refridgerator side by side not getting cold

When we had this happen, the air vent between the freezer and fridge side was blocked with ice and wasn't letting the cold air come thru from the freezer. That's what cools the fridge. Our vent was up at the top between the two.

Hello, Problem with Maytag plus Side by Side refrigerator model MZD2766GE.The Freezer part is working fine but the fridge part is not cold at all even after I adjusted the temperature to number 8. I do not...

You most likely have a defrost heater and/or defrost term switch. (switch is built into heater on your fridge).that needs replaced causing your coil to completely freeze up and blocking cool air flow to fridge side. Here is the part you need to order.

Refridgerator side not cold freezer side fine

Difficult to properly diagnois with such a brief description, but try the following as a good first step at correcting the problem. Reset the freezer and fridge thermostat settings at the factory default. Also, check the freezer section to make sure nothing is blocking the cold air supply vent into the fridge, do the same on the fridge side too.

Normally is the freezer is working fine, and the fridge is warm, it can be due to either a blockage of the cold air cross vent by items in either the freezer, fridge, or both, preventing proper cold air flow from the freezer into the fridge. Also, check to see if the cold air vent is not frozen or obstructed, with a fashlight (you;ll need to remove stuff from fridge and freezer to make this possible to check.

If the vent is not obstructed and you can clearly feel cold air passing from the freezer into the fridge, it is possible that the cold air vent control has ceased operating properly and needs to be replaced. Usually though this type of problem is caused by people over stuffing things into the freezer section and blocking the cold air cross over vent. Hope this helps.

MSD2454GR Side by Side refrigerator- freezer side fine, refrigerator side will not cool below 50 degrees; lots of condensation

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat.

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp ..

HI, your Temperature Control Module has failed. it controls the air flow and vent(damper) action. replacing the temp control mod will fix this issue you are having at this time.

Maytag side by side slowly getting warmer

I have actually been having the same problem. We have a Maytag MTB2156GEQ and it hasn't been cooling well at all lately. Temp in the fridge is about 52 degrees even on the highest setting. The freezer seems to be fine. I pulled off the back panel and vacuumed out the condensor coil and everything else under there. I then pulled out the control panel on the ceiling of the fridge. The channel between the freezer and fridge was almost completely blocked with ice. I cleaned it out by taking out the back panel of the freezer and pouring hot water down through the hole until it was clear.
that seem fix the issue.
