I have a JVC headunit fitted in an 03 plate Seat Ibiza. Everytime the engine is switched off the headunit resets and the CD loses its place. I had a sony unit in before and that was fine, and the JVC unit also worked when it was fitted in a previous vehicle.

underneath your stearing wheel loosen the covers there and on the brake pedal above it 2wards the stearing wheel you will see it allocated above the pedal loosen the lock(nut) unplug the connected switch then screw it open an thats it
Have you checked the switched positive and battery feeds, they can be on different colours in different cars, sometimes they are marked up and are on **** plugs so you can swap them.
Normally Red and Yellow wires, with a fuse connector on each wire.
Dealer would simply reset using diagnostic and charge you for it

Switch ignition off
Press and hold trip button left off speedo
Switch ignition on
Service will appear in display
Release trip button
Turn trip button to right untill [-] appears
Release trip button
