Do you mean that you are trying to access Xbox live by hooking it up to your laptop? If so, make sure you have your Ethernet cable plugged into you laptop and xbox. You will need to go to your computer and get into your Network and Sharing Center. On the left, click Manage Wireless Networks/Manage Networks Connections. Hold Ctrl down and then select the Xbox and your Internet, right-click on them and select bridge connection. That should allow your computer to act as a router for your Xbox.

Make sure ethernet cable from XBOX 360 is connected to one of the 4 access ports on the back of the router.

Xbox has been connecting no problem via netgear router. Suddenly it has stopped and cant go live any more. Dont know how to work out if it is xbox wireless adaptor or netgear router.

Do you have any other computers or game consoles hooked up the netgear router? if the other computers etc. can connect to the Net via your router, then it sounds like your Xbox adaptor might have failed.

Netgear DG834G with xbox360

Connect to the Router,
Under the Security tab, select Services, then add, give it the name XBOX TCP/UDP, set start port as 3074 and end port as 3074, set type as TCP/UDP, click apply/ok. Do this again, giving it the name XBOX UDP, start port 88, end port 88, type UDP, then apply settings.

Now go to Firewall under the Configuration tab, under incoming click add, now select the service XBOX UDP/TCP from the drop down menu. select forward to specific IP address or similar and type in your Xbox's IP address e.g. 192.168.1.5, click log never, then apply ok. Do the same for XBOX UDP and your again click apply. That's it! you've successfully opened the necessary ports on your Router and told your Router that any incoming info on those ports should be sent to your Xbox.

Turning the xbox 360 into xbox 360 live?

ok, so if you want to do it wirelessly you need to get the wireless network adapter for the 360. i got mine at target for about 100 bucks. You also will need a Xbox live Gold card if you are wanting to play with your friends. you can also get your subcription over the xbox by using a credit card. The setup is pretty simple, just follow the on screan instructions. I am assuming your dashboard uses the "blades". if so, go over to the marketplace section, and go to join xbox live. then it will guide you through the process.

Hope this helps you.

Xbox live connection keeps crashing.

Hi,

problems usually happen, when the signal strength drops.
I,d suggest hard-wiring the 360 to the PC or router, for optimal performance.

Thankyou for using fixya.
