Hi i have a philips 60PP920217F rear projection tv and we recently replaced the IC chips (we went from the STK392-120 to the STK392-180 since everywhere seemed to suggest that this would be a better fix since the 180's run cooler) due to a slight convergenge problem after they were replaced we aligned all of the colors and it seems to work ok except now everything that is supposed to be blue isnt really it has more of a green tint for example marge simpsons hair appears like a dark greenish blue is there some sort of adjustment that we would need to do on the inside.. i tried using the menu but it solved nothing.. all other colors appear fine white is white, yellow is yellow red is red.. ect...

This is a convergence problem and can be repaired by replacing the two STK-392-120 convergence chips and adjusting the set with the original remote control
I have specific instructions for this repair from start to finish.
Sounds like your convergence circuit went out. It lines up the red, green and blue picture tubes so the colors are lined up. Usually these TVs all use the same type of IC chips called "STKs" both usually get replaced along with any resistors etc.. around these chips that may have burned up. Depending on who fixes it could be around $300-400 parts and labor.
Mark, if red & blue are seperated from the normal image then the convergence circuit has failed, this means the IC`s will have to be removed and replaced as well as any resistors that may have burned when the chip(s) went bad, the alignment that must be performed after the new IC`s are installed can be a pain especially without the service manual, I`d advise a tech for this one, video-tek
Hi, common issue in your set, the convergence IC`s have failed, if your real proficient at soldering & un-soldering you can replace them, if not you need to call a tv tech, video-tek
You will need two STK392-120 Convergence ICs and about 4 6.8 ohm 1watt resistors. You can get replacement ICs and resistors at the following link and they provide free instalation instructions with pictures so you can do the job yourself. Here is the link. http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/
Replacing only the ICs MAY solve the problem, however, many people have also had blown resistors requiring replacement. Also the convergence board should be checked for cracked solder. If you replace the ICs and the resistors are shot, the ICs may blow again almost immediately, meaning you may have to do the repair twice. You do not have to replace any transistors to fix this convergence failure.
The green CRT coolant has congealed thats whats giving you the green halos. Change the coolant in the green and blue and your set will be fine. red is never affected so the red coolant should be fine.
At present, bad connect(s) on red convergence IC. Soldering pins will fix temporarily.
Usual fix = replace STK392-110 IC's. A 400.00 dollar repair at
your local tv shop......T.
