My xm radio has a lot of static no matter what radio frequency I have tried. I even sent for a new radio thinking that the old one might be shot. Same exact thing is happening. I have called xm many times and they don't answer anything for me.

The antenna for Satellite radios work at a very high microwave radio frequency, so nearly impossible for an average Joe to repair, even with FARKA connector and soldering iron. You will have to spring for a new antenna; try a thrift store for one, or you can get one online as well before you give BB $50 for one. Make sure you have one for XM or one for Sirius specific to your radio - it might even say "SiriusXM" but in the fine print will say "For use on the XM System only" or for "Use on the Sirius System Only" - so pay attention to that. Most are XM now.
Under menu, select FM frequency. Try using different frequency. A nearby FM station could be bleeding its signal onto the FM frequency your unit is using by default.
1. Make sure your SKYFi2 is turned off. Unplug any accessory from SKYFi2’s audio jack. 2. Turn on an FM radio and place it close to your SKYFi2. 3. Tune the FM radio to each of the following FM frequencies: 88.1, 88.3, 88.5, 88.7, 88.9, 106.7, 106.9, 107.1, 107.3, 107.5, 107.7, and 107.9. 4. Note the frequency that has no FM station or the least amount of interference. 5. Turn on your SKYFi2. 6. Press the “menu” button. 7. Use the scroll wheel to select “FM Frequency.” Press the “XM” button to confirm. 8. Use the scroll wheel to select the frequency noted in step 4. Press the “XM” button to confirm. 9. Press the “menu” button to return to the main menu and then again to return to the play screen. 10. You should now hear XM programming over your FM radio. If the sound is not clear or you hear interference or static, try another frequency by repeating the process above.
Basically, you just need to have the antenna unplugged when you power up, and push menu right away, then select. Not sure why, but it worked on all of my Roady XTs. On the oldest one I had to push menu more than once. Good luck!
