You have a wire touching to ground (the frame or metal part of the vehicle) somewhere. Do you have a trailer light hook up? If so I'd start there, look for bare wires, or damaged wires. Do you have any broken tail lights or parking lights? Look for bare wires there too, or it could be a bad bulb. Good luck. Don't put a bigger fuse in the system, the wires will burn up. The wires will only handle so many amps if you put in a higher amp fuse the wires will get hot and start the vehicle on fire.

Hello,

This could be a trouble relay, if not a relay, try to observe some other fuses :)

check the parking light fuse or taillight fuse to make sure it has not blown. replace it if it has blown and see if the lights work or if the fuse blows again. if it blows when you turn the lights on then you have a short circuit that needs repaired. if the fuses are good ,then most likely the headlight switch is bad not allowing the taillights or dash lights to work.

My tail lights are not working, it keeps blowing my fuse.

1.Unplug your taillights at the sockets and the front running lights from sockets.
2. put in new fuse after unplugging taillights.
3 turn on taillights if fuse blows then the wiring is grounding out somewhere between the switch, fuse panel, and rear and or front parking lights.
4.If fuse does not blow then plug in one socket at a time keep rechecking fuse. when the fuse blows after plugging in a certain socket suspect that one to be bad and replace.

My brake lights work but the tail lights and license plate light don't work every time I turn on the fuse it blows I have a 1984 pontiac fiero.

Remove all bulbs on the tail lights and license plate circuit.
Replace fuse, turn on parking lamps- check if fuse blows without any lamps connected.
If it does, check for short circuit to ground on the taillight/license plate wiring.

If it doesn't blow, re-install one lamp at a time until all lights work. you may have a faulty lamp or lampsocket.
