Quite possible that the operating software needs a re-installation. So in the first place try to scan for virus, try to restore the PC to an earlier set date- use the recovery disc or If this wont solve then reinstall OS.
Try it again - Eject and attempt to reinsert the disc to see if the problem occurs again.
Is it freezing? - If so, click here for additional assistance.
Any recent update? - If you have previously downloaded an Auto update, you can set your console to automatically load a disc in the DVD tray. Or, you can set your console to start in the main screen.
Is it a problem elsewhere? - Try testing the console by using a different disc. Use game discs to test game disc freezes and DVDs to test DVD freezes, or click here for additional assistance.
Check environment - Make sure that the console is not near a heat source such as a television, computer, monitor, or other electrical device. Also, make sure that the console is in a well-ventilated area. If the console is in a poor location, move it to a location that has sufficient ventilation, such as on a table or on the floor. If this resolves the issue, the previous location likely did not provide enough ventilation. Review the Playstation instruction manual for information about where to put the console.
Are date/time OK? - Make sure that the console is set to the correct time and date. Also, see if the console requires that you reset date and time every time that it is turned on (This issue may prevent the console from recognizing the disc media).
Check other devices - Disconnect all the unnecessary peripheral devices, including the Hard Drive, and then test the console.
Test with other hardware - If possible, test the disc in a different console. If you do not have another console available (or the problem is limited to one disc), exchange the disc at the retailer where you purchased it.
If the above steps have not resolved the issue, the unit may require service*.
The only thing i can think of here is either you might need to dust of your PS3 console around the area of the fan (right side) or that the disc that freezes up might be scratched or need cleaning.
1st DO NOT EXPOSE THE BLU-RAY FOR ANY REASON - You run the risk of blindness and radiation exposure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please advise what FirmWare Version you are currently running on. You can find this under;
Settings>System Settings>System Information.
Once I have this info I will provide you with the best fix if needed but It is probably down to out of date drivers. There have been a number of changes to the blurays drivers recently and if these havent been updated then this will most likely be your problem. To solve this all you need to do is take your system online and download the newest FirmWare update. - There are people who NEVER use the system online for different reasons. Since you brought the system BluRay has gone through 4 upgrades. Any BluRays you buy now wll likely be incompatible for playback with the drivers you have on your system.
If you need any further advice on getting online with thew PS3 please post it as a new issue and I will help you - but the PS3 talks you through it to be honest
maybe you should try different games? see if those different games freeze, if so, then it might be your blu-ray player in your ps3, or your ps3 might be overheating. my games froze at certain points because my ps3 was overheating, just try a few different games
Hello colin bernar,
There are two things that can be doing this, 1) the most likely; you have a bad disc, try using a different disc that is the same game. 2) unlikely but my still be the problem would be your xbox is running too hot and overheating which will freeze your game until the processor will cool down.
Hope this helps.
thanks #3 my xbox was standing vertically on a rug, and it would get to the spinning x and freeze. Well I decided to take a shot and see if it got more air by horizontally putting the xbox and it worked! within 5 seconds it turned right on and worked perfectly!!!!!
Hi there. The xbox 360 suffers from overheating, and different symptoms can be seen after the board has 'warped', from overheating.
Basically, the video processor chip and/of the video memory chips gets disconnected from the main board from overheating. The behavior of the console can be many things, from the '3 Rings of Death' which consists of the console not even starting up with the 3 front lights flashing, to occasional freezing, lockups, video artifacts and lines.
You might notice a difference in the console's behavior depending on the actual temperature of it. If it freezes on each startup, even on a 'cold' boot, the board is probably bad enough now.
If you're really out of luck with getting MS to replace it, you might try the 'towel' method. It's still better than using the xbox as a doorstop.
I won't be describing this technique here as it's a bit weird, but you can find it on xbox-scene.com forums, searching for 'towel' might get you some tutorial on it. It basically consists of blocking both the air intake and exhaust of the console, which makes the internal temperature so high it actually 'reflows' the connection between the graphics processor and the board. That worked for a few guys it seems, but it's far from a 'by the book' technique, to say the least. :)
Hope that helps, cheebster.
